He's not as bad as Alan Green on fivelive when he covers Scouse games. He's a fucking clown. Even when he knew that Heinze didn't handball it for Madrid, he said "who cares, it's good for Liverpool". Pathetic.

Cannot listen to five live for that very reason. Especially when he starts getting angry if its not going Liverpools way and just comes out with all sorts of crap...

Fat barrel of shit...just like Mark Bosnich who's another crap pundit/fat barrel of shit (those in Australia will see what I'm talking about on Fox Sports) Although Robbie Slater's OK.

While we're on the subject, Paul Walsh is a better co-commentator than he is a pundit. Pretty impressed.

I dont rate Bosnich or Slater.
We over here had Robbie Earle doing the special comments, hes not too bad, although im pretty sure he doesn;t like Spurs, hes just not overly obvious

I've always thought Andy Gray was anti-Spurs for some reason and so am glad I don't get to hear him. I felt Robbie Earle was on the ball and correctly praised our defensive work. However, the 'unbiased' commentary team waxing lyrical about our dominance certainly started to unnerve me in the second half. Yes, Villa were nullified but I got a little apprehensive as they started talking about the Spurs win with a good 20 minutes to go. You just knew it wouldn't be as easy to close it out as they seemed to think. So, I suppose I am saying that even when they are praising us, it can still annoy you! I wish I could mute the commentary without losing the sound at the ground...

Nothing wrong with his commentary whatsoever. He's brought out some great lines aswell i.e:'ooooo Gerrard ya beauty' 'you just don't save those' 'you can't teach that' 'straight out the top drawer' and alot of the time he knows what he's talking about pipe down complaining for no reason.

Really, I couldn't give a flying fuck about the commentary. Im not overly bothered if he chooses to be biased towards or against us, I just watch the team I support and make my own judgements.

I dont particularly hate his opinion, I generally thinks he has a pretty bloody good knowledge and understanding of the game too, although his voice can do my nut in from time to time.

I think the reaction on here is overated personally. He's just a commentator, and sometimes he doesn't say things but he is indirectly stating the obvious. "aston villa completely dominated the first half" wasn't followed up by "spurs have dominated the second" as RusselYid pointed out, but by not saying anything, we can come to the conclusion that Villa obviously aren't dominating the second half.

Fuck him if he has a hatred towards spurs.

Aston villa 1 - 2 Spurs

He's never been very nice to us and was especially odious last night.

Still, at least you know what to expect and his passion and enthusiasm has driven Sky to the success they've had, which you could say in turn has give Spurs a lot of money and allowed us to bring in top, top ((C) Redknapp family) players. In that regard, we have to thank him as we would surely be relegated and still be watching the likes of Jason Cundy and Stephen Clemence if it weren't for Andy Gray.

Maybe.

One final point - you should try watching the Southeast Asian coverage. The Malaysian berk Shebby Singh proclaims to be a Spurs fan and I've never once seen him back us. He was calling for Jol's head the season we nearly finished 4th, for Christ's sake. Throw in Steve McMahon and his Scouse-obsession and it's more than mere mortals can take.

I don't know if it was him or not but one of them was continually going on about how good King and Woody were. Credit where credit's due.

Phil Thompson has got to be the most biased pundit though!

I can't stand him as he does seem to harbour a hate for us but he is so much better then Charlie Nicholas or Le Tisser who both fucking hate us and talk about us that way...

I think the problem, for me at least, is there is never any credit that the top four love in get.

You get something like Spurs dominating Man Utd, and its not about how well Tottenham are doing in attack, but how great and fantastic Ferdinand and Vidic are doing.

THen Man Utd start dominating, its not how well King and Wooders are doing, but how amazingly fantastic Ronaldo and Rooney are.

Just those kind of things that grate, its not football punditry, or commentry, its a football fan talking about something that he thinks everyone wants to hear, never trying to be unbiased.

He is a twat though, glad I don't have Sky Sports anymore, can't fucking stand it. Dare I say it, that I actually prefer Setanta's commentry teams!!

I thought he was ok, just did not give us credit for a very good second half performance away from home.

Cant say I care what this guy thinks about Spurs at all. He has no impact on how we play or what we do, so him shouting off his usual rubbish doesnt bother me.

"This is a smash and grab of the highest order" - his reaction to the second goal, despite the fact that we probably had the best two chances of the first half despite Villa having the posession.

When he also said that Palacios trod on (i think it was Petrov's) foot in trying to justify an award of a free kick when there was no contact summed up for me how stupid he really is.

The only thing i agreed with him in his commentary was when he said that we need to retain the ball better in the first half. Aside from that he is only concerned with the top 4, Villa and Everton (both of whom he played for).

Asswipe!

I like Gray, I don't think he sounded biased at all. Someone mentioned the possesion stats being brought up every 10 minutes while tey were on top and not at while we were. In the first half it came up twice, and in the second half it came up twice. Whats wrong with that?

He was showing how dominating villa were and then the contrast in the second half. I really don't know what you lot are moaning about.

It's because the guy is a twat, his so called knowledge of the game is limited, he often quotes inaccurate laws of the game plus yesterday he came out with "apart from being sucker punched it's been all Villa". How the fuck can you be sucker punched that early on in the game? Villa are the team chasing a CL spot we are the team fighting relegation and Villa were the home side, what else did he expect from the match? The only thing he got right was that Zoko shouldn't have been playing at RB.

I'd rather have the old way of commentating and do away with the so called expert. I don't know if you can still do it but at one time you could turn the commentary off and just have the crowd.

Phil Thompson was a shit player, shit coach and a half witted scouse plonker originating from a very swallow gene pool. How else can you explain the size of his fireman's

Can't be bothered to read the whole thread, but for me, Andy Gray has always had a chip on his shoulder where Spurs are concerned.

There was a point yesterday when we were 2 up with 25 minutes left when he said something like:

"I don't see why Villa are playing like a team running out of time here. there is plenty of time for them to turn this around and get something from the game".

Which was true enough i suppose, but you can bet that if the situation were reversed he would be saying:

"Why spurs are going about this in such a padestrian approach is beyond me. Time is quickly running out and they need to pressurise Villa to have even the slightest chance of a draw"

He is a biased prick. One of the worst co-commentators going.

I hate that thing he does after the games on sunday with his stupid computer and tactics thing, if he's that good and he knows everything there is to know about tactics why isn't he a manager, he'd win every game if he's as good as he thinks he is, he'd be more succesfull than Fergie.

Omg another thing. Saturday, liverpool are 1-0 down. Fat Gray goes and criticises Rafas team selection. They win 4-1, is he still criticising? Not a chance

Does he mention it in the last word? Hell no!
