And yet people will only remember their anger at Levy apparently pulling out of this deal at the last minute. In fact it looks like an opportunistic move wasn't pursued as our manager wanted something else.
I mean we had ITK and there were reports in the press that Ange had personally talked to Fati and convinced him of our project.

I think it's somewhere in between, as is usually the case.
Ange probably did speak to him and was up for it until we couldn't sort an option, then said no.
There's no point loaning him when there are other available targets out there.

The thing is that nobody here is ever going to know the absolute truth of the situation. Most people will just choose to believe whichever "report" they prefer to believe.

Yeah, some people always need someone to blame for everything.

Which is fine - I do think everyone is entitled to be annoyed/frustrated whatever.

Just funny to see people jumping onto a "report" as if it's gospel, and then being stopped by an equally valid but completely contradictory report. It's the reason why we shouldn't lose our collective shit at these things... ho hum.

The exact same words were used a day later for De Zerbi, could be they got it mixed up or was just fabricated.

Yeah you do all the work, negotiate, speak to the player, then after you’ve done that, you ask Ange, who says no. Highly unlikely.

Reports he's being unveiled today by Brighton. Not sure we need this thread now.

Sorry what point of not selling them and us paying their wages is better than someone paying their wages?

You can’t sell your house if no-one wants to buy it. You can sell it for 4p, sure. That what you’re suggesting here?

Well that strategy worked out well, didn’t it?

Shambles.

It’s worth keeping in mind that IF we really did like Fati then we still could get him if he impresses for Brighton. Barca won’t be in any better financial situation next summer and they will still need to raise money if they hope to actually buy Cancelo and Felix. Yes his price might go up if he has a good season and potentially more clubs might be interested but his time at Brighton could be interesting to follow.

Assuming we actually wanted him in the first place of course.
