Those are definitely the top priorities. If we only sorted those areas I'd be relatively happy, although for me we still have a weakness when Dembele is out (which of course he will be at the start of the season).

Think Alli can fill that void mate, if we bring in a Striker, Eriksen and Kane are capable as no10's.

I remain unconvinced by Alli in a 2 man midfield. Having said that he's still very young so could certainly develop into that role, but at the moment I don't think he's a mature enough player to cover that role.

As for your other points, I'd keep N'Jie as he's the only real out and out pace we have out wide (unless we sign someone else) and I'd start to be concerned that if we don't see Pritchard next season, we won't see him at all.

With the defender I actually wonder whether we need a more experienced head in the squad, rather than another youngster. As you say we've got CCV hopefully coming through, but I don't think he's ready yet, so maybe a wise-old head to add cover for a year or two until he's ready. No idea who that would be though.

Not sure on the CB as I think Vertonghen and Toby should be experienced enough by now, plus Wimmer has looked good and Dier can also drop back if we sign adequate DM cover. If anywhere an old head could probably be more useful as one of two CM additions IMO. Someone like Cambiasso of 4-5 years ago.

N'Jie and Pritch was 100% based on incomings, I just want us to appraise how many games they can get, we haven't got the luxury of blooding through the EL this year.

I appreciate that however it also comes down to squad management. Can we keep Dier, Dembele, New DM and someone good enough to compete with Dembele all happy?

Need a striker, another winger and a defensive midfielder. Wouldn't mind a new backup keeper.

Dembele's suspension may turn out to be a blessing in disguise if it forces Levy's hand.

Several footie sites reporting that Michy Batshuayi is allegedly a done deal with Total Tottenham, stating that he will be signed after the French Cup Final?

Would be great if true, this kid has a had a great season.

Position-wise priority is as follows:
Striker>DM>AM
I dont think we need reinforcements in defence.

The backdrop of this is that teams will start parking the bus more and counter-attacking us. We need more tools to unlock that kind of game plan. I think the key for this is a good striker to finish the move, and a good DM to turn the ball over.

Striker: Even if Kane stays fit all season and maintains his 20-season form we still need a good striker. We need the option to play 2 up front. Ideally this new striker should be someone who could both poach and run the channels. Im hoping Njie is such a guy.

DM: Someone can press the ball and see/play a long pass. Dier's been good but he doesn't have the passing range to start a move.

AM: If the striker-option fails we would need even more goals from midfield. Our front 3 are going to have to share 30 goals between them across the season. We've pretty much done that this season but against more bus-parking can we repeat? Need Son/Chadli to step up even more, or maybe Mason (if he stays) to stay fit and chip in. But this is an area of less concern.

Ross Barkley?

I personally think he's overhyped & overrated, so would also be ridiculously overpriced. I'd expect Everton would demand at least £50mil, then I expect his wage demands would also be in line with the ridiculous price tag, upwards of £100k p/w, perhaps?

I also think he's a greedy sod, and isn't much of a team player, so perhaps isn't best suited to what Poch wants/expects?

As I said, just my opinion (y)

Looking at it player by player, here's my take:

GK: Only area of the team that doesn't need change this season IMO.

RB: I think Walker and Trippier are good enough options - no changes here.
CB: TA, JV and Wimmer are all very good players, we need a quality 4th option though in case JV looses form again. And no CCV is not the answer.
LB: Rose is strong, Davies i'm a little unsure on. I don't think it is a massive priority area for us this summer.

DM: Desperately need backup/rotation to Dier.
CM: Desperately need backup/rotation to Dembele.

AM: We play with 6 AMs effectively, in my mind the only ones that are good enough are: Alli, Erikssen, Lamela and Son. That means two new AMs - i would be willing to give Clinton a chance and only bring in one new one though, with Onomoah as possible outside squad option.

ST: Clearly need a back-up rotation for Kane.

So for me that's the following incomings needed:

CB: Someone like the Wimmer signing from last summer.
DM: Quality DM player that can also play alongside Dier if required.
CM: Quality CM that can step into Dembele's shoes.
AM: Chadli to go, Son and Clinton to be bottom of pecking order.
ST: Rotation and competition for Kane.

That being said i think we can live without a CB coming in IF we can get a seriously solid pair of new midfielders for DM and CM rotation.

Splitting that into categories for me that's:
  • GAME CHANGERS: AM and ST
  • STRONG SQUAD PLAYERS: DM and CM
I would expect us to need to spend close to £40m on the two game changers and close to £30m on the two strong squad players.

I think we can recoup around £20m for players that are available to leave. £50m net spend sounds borderline feasible to me.
How does 50 million net spend sound feasible when the last 7 years plus have been zero??!

He doesn't inspire confidence in my opinion.

I agree. The weird thing is, while he was at Swansea, I thought he would be the perfect understudy for Lloris. Vorm appeared agile, quick off his line, and reasonable with his distribution (something Lloris should really work on, in my opinion). However, since Vorm came to THFC, he just doesn't appear like the same 'keeper that was at Swansea.

It's almost as though he's nervous, something akin to a rabbit in headlights. Our defence looks far from confident when Vorm is played which, I guess, is testament to the influence Lloris has on those in front or around him?

Because £50m is really a fairly low amount AND Levy does have history of backing managers - the importance of us retaining our CL spot with the new stadium on the way can't be underestimated from a commercial Levy perspective.

Do i think it is likely we will spend £50m net? Porbably not. But it is a feasible number for us to spend if we want to.

Yeah and Paulinho started for Brazil at time we bought him :p

To be fair Paulinho was one of the Brazilian league's best midfielders when we bought him, just don't think the prem suited him - he'd have had a lot more success in Italy i think.

A good back up goal keeper.... Karl Darlow or Rob Elliott from Newcastle. I don't trust Vorm.

A proper CM... Can we get Schneiderlin or Wanyama or James Mccarthy ? All 3 would be good competition for Dembele & Dier which is what we lacked in last 4 games

A Striker - Michy Batshuayi would be awesome , if ITK is true

A winger/AM to compete with Eriksen & probably replace Chadli. I would look at Boufal , or some good talent..if it's PL , I hope we look at Matt Richie who was awesome for Bournemouth.

It's pretty simple really:
1. Striker - To play with or back-up to Kane (like Batsuyi)
2. CM/DM - one who can cover moussa and Dier (upgrade on Mason,Carrol etc) (like Wanyama)
3.Winger/AM - not priority and if striker we buy is top drawer and Kane drops to n.o10 then no need. (Like Bolasi or Rodriquez)

Others but not needed as priority:
1.RB- upgrade on Walker
2.LB - back up upgrade on Davies(more pace)
3.GK - upgrade on Vorm

Sell:
Fazio
Bentaleb
Carrol or Mason
Pritchard
Chadli
Yedlin

Loan:
Onomah
CCV

Done.
