He said if Poch goes, everyone goes. Dele, Kane, Eriksen etc. Mass exodus. They’re only there for Poch. And ‘who could spurs get if he went, they’d have to start all over again’ like nobody good would want to come.

Now while the players thing will have a little bit of truth in it... a) they kiss the cockerel, not a picture of Poch and b) Levy would never let more than one, possibly 2 leave and if he did, it would be for unbelievable money. C) if he left, we could get possibly any manager in world football if they were available, in my opinion.

Merson loves a bit of hyperbole. He’s almost right sometimes but often ruins it with the need to be controversial. Most of the time he’s just a plum though.

As you say, most of the time he's wildly off the mark, which was why I was surprised by him tonight.

It is not for me but loads do it now and to be fair to him he has done a good job in keeping fans updated on the new stadium and I think he does a lot for Charity.
