For me, Huddlestone was at fault for their first three goals.

First one - he was marking Mertesacker, lost him completely.

Second one - he inadvertently played the one-two to let them in.

Third one - he played a hospital pass to Lennon, Lennon had to foul to set up the free kick for them.

He's a luxury player, and therefore a liability in a 4-4-2 - or, even worse, when you do down to ten men.

Agree with your sentiments about Hudd. He is our weakest link imo. Demebel and Parker back will do a world of good. I want to see if Carroll can be any worse, because from what I've seen so far, I actually think he will be an improvement to Hudd on all fronts. That's saying a lot, considering I loved to watch Hudd play in the past.

Jam-yiddo, the irony is certainly not lost on me, rating my last post 'dumb' when we were talking about mods having the power to ban people from posting who give dumb ratings yet never post themselves....
here's hoping you've something a bit more constructive to bring to sc.

We didn't play 4-4-2 today, stop listening to Sky.

Yes we did. Adebayor's starting position was pushed right up against there centre half, usually mettersacker, of course he took positions up in midfield areas because that's the type of player he is, he likes to get involved. Football's fluid and of course no formation is rigid. Bale finds himself in forward areas but I wouldn't call him a striker and I wouldn't say we played a different formation because he found himself in those positions. When VDV was here he started from deeper areas but would arrive later in forward areas. I wouldn't call him a striker either. It might not fit in with peoples ideas about AVB being some modern master tactition but let's call if what it was. I'm pretty sure everyone would and actually did call it a 4-4-2 when Harry did it

Well here's a turnaround.
We lose 5-2 to Arsenal and there's quite a lot of people on here,
me included, looking for the positives.
Usually even when we win there are quite a ot of people,
me included, looking for the negatives.
Perhaps the 'Community' bit of Spurs Community is rising to the surface..
Let's hope so because there are some hard times ahead.

Not all 5-2 defeats are the same.

Much better feeling from this loss than most of our shaky wins over the last nine months!

More spirit, better passing and more fight. AVB earned his Spurs today also. Very proud

Three at the back was a (initial) positive, if only we had someone to play right wingback (BAE as left wingback).

We sort of had the upper hand leading up to the sending off, but there is always this doubt we would hold onto it. I thought that with a four man midfield consisting two wingers and Huddlestone, we would never have been able to close the game out and restrict chances. Our lack of mobility in the centre, both Huddlestone and Gallas would have been exposed irrespective of having 10 or 11 players on the field

Our big defensive problems is are on the left. We will need to buy if Rose does not want to come back as a understudy to BEA.
We should never be relying the likes of Naughton. The only reason he is still with us is BEA injury and it was AVB first season.
We should have kept Danny R. Walcott had him on toast. He is limp - Verts will have to go back out there when Caulker is fit sadly.

Feel sorry for Naughton he plays like a rabbit in the headlights

KD you really are a pessimist aren't you. In the second half we went for it and paid the price of losing two goals. I seem to remember that last season Man U also decided to try to get backin the game against Man City and lost 6-1. Do you think they laid down and gave up as well?

Fergie actually went mental over this in the press, lack of professionalism from the players.

We didn't 'sort of' have the upper hand, we were winning and bossing the game.
Lennon went very close before the sending off.
We might have gone 2 or three ahead the way they were playing before we had to close the game down.
I'm not saying we would have won, that's a known unknown,
but we were playing as if we might.

AVB is talking rubbish in saying that the sending off didn't change the game
and that Adebayor is not to blame.
But it's the sort of reassuring solidarity nonsense that it's good to hear on such occasions.
The man is really making an effort.

Hudd is anything but fat...he's built like a tank. Would love to see you say that to his face...I'm thinking you wouldn't.

The only positive in this game was Thomas Carroll.

I actually felt Vertonghen was fantastic. The last goal where he had a bad giveaway that led to the break was his moment of weakness, but other than that he made tackle after tackle, and I loved seeing him where he belongs: CB.
