I think the only way we can sign him is by selling Berbatov for around £27 million - otherwise we will not be able to afford him and to tell you the truth I would be happy with that deal!
This guys ability is known to anyone who has watched football in the past few years - why are clubs waiting until now to sign this player.I could have told our chairman to buy him 2 years ago and I am not the only one in this forum!
He will definitely end up at Chelsea now FFS!

for the same reason they waited to sign Berbatov when he shined for Bayer. Players from Eastern Europe who are unproven in the best leagues are (severely) underestimated by the so called pundits and respectively fans.

I'm sure we could afford him. Look at our accounts for the last couple of years. Also we don't just have to spend what we have in the bank. I can't forsee another transfer window in which the opportunity to sign so many good players will come along. If it means over spending now and having a much smaller budget next year, or meaning our salary ratio is less impressive, then that's fine by me. As I mentioned earlier with the examples of Gio and Modric, it's not often the economic environment is so much in our favour. Whilst Prem clubs have waiting lists for season tickets and have just signed a massive TV deal, other European clubs are struggling. We need to strike when the irons hot. In recent seasons, we've done poorly in the transfer market, but our fans have celebrated our financial results. Personally i'd rather have a poor set of financial results (and that doesn't mean debt) and players like Arshavin, than have a great balance sheet and finish 11th. I remember how pleased everyone was when we made £30 million profit (and ended up paying dividends!), but at the time we were near the bottom of the table. I'd much rather have signed a Woodgate type a year earlier and made a less of a profit.

Arshavin gave a magical performance, he scored a goal, he kissed the shirt, and he cried.

He's now the Russian Gazza - with or without the Tourette's Syndrome...

a starting line up with arshavain modric dos santos keane and berbatov would be absolutely sensational. We would easily score 70 plus league goals. With Gomes and a top class DM we will be pushing liverpool all the way for 4th

If Comolli read this forum and trusted my judgement we could get Arshi for £ 10-12 ml :bang: Now he will command 20 easily:wink:

Joey,I know we have money but we have spent far too much since last summer and unless Levy goes to Joe Louis with a begging bowl asking for £30 million - I just can't see us making big signings without selling!

Holy shit joey, you won that discussion!

Break the bank, break the wage structure, do ANYTHING to get this guy! That is the best performance by a player in one single game I can remember in years!

PS: Zhirkov at LB wouldn't be half bad either...

PPS: yup, I've been drinking...

As I said before in this thread we could sign him with decent firm offer even a week ago. Now I am afraid the clubs will be queuing up for his signature.

Hells yeah...

He also waved to the camera, took off his shirt and yelled at a dutch guy.

Let's sign him.

Or as a winger?

Him and Bale playing the left side switching positions to confuse the opponent :)
