We must be crazy to not bid for this player. He's a match winner at the highest level. One of the best in the world. The game against Sweden proved that, if any prove was needed. You won't find more intelligent and skilful player. And I have been led to believe that Tottenham is exactly the club where such players are appreciated.

Of course he might not be one of the highest earners in Russia, but I was expecting him to be on more than just over a third of Lampard's wage...

Regardless, having just added Modric and dos Santos to an already good attack, assuming we don't have endless transfer funds our priorities will be elsewhere...

Let's say Lampard is not worth one third of Arshavin talent.
In the brain for sure. You will never see this delayed, defence splitting passes from Frank.
All in all, you read many names linked to us, most of them in attack, I would prefer Arshavin. Though I agree with priorities elsewhere...

Fat Lampard is a great player and was voted by his fellow pro's and coaches worldwide 2nd best player in the world two or three seasons ago. So you need to re-think your -- "Let's say Lampard is not worth one third of Arshavin talent" -- comment.:) Also, going by one game is not a good way to value a player's attributes.

I agree with you completely and I am sure that you are not making this type of judgement on one game.
Arshavin is a fantastic talent and I would love to see him at Spurs however I know that he is very well paid in Russia and we may not be able to afford him.
By the way Ostrov are you Russian? If so perhaps you know a bit more - does he want to come to the Premiership and if so what team?

It's maybe for you "going by one game". I have seen at least 50 Arshavin's games, if not more since 2001.
And I've got a suspicion you didnt see UEFA Cup run of Zenit last season.

Sorry, mate nothing personal :)

Yes, mate, I am Russian. From St.Petersburg. And I can tell you for sure, Arshavin is keen to come to England. Moreover Spurs would be his favouirit destinations, because of his admiration for Ramos through Zenit games against Sevilla.

This guy does have quality, but if we do sign him then surely Lennon will be gone?

God,I hope you are right!
If the rumours are true and we sign David Bentley then I don't think Arshavin will be coming to Spurs - probably go to Chelsea because of Abramovich or Arsenal to replace Hleb!

No doubt he is a quality player, I feel he is more a second striker than attacking midfielder, and would then wonder if we have a place in our team for him, what with Keane filling that role, and dos Santos and Modric being able to play there.

We have bigger priorities

He is great, but in a Modric/Dos Santos midfield? I'm not sure he'll fit.

Well Arshavin-Modric-Dos Santos playing in AM roles and just buy that one DM and problem solved, bring back the Ardiles days and even better, that set up is long way better than famous five

Arshavin-Modric-Dos Santos
Berbatov-Keane

or

Anderton-Barmby-Dumitrescu
Sheringham-Klinsman

Ostrov, i too have watched a good many of Arshavin's games and have been an admirer for a while. However, I believe the club had a choice: Modric or Arshavin and we all know the result. I'm sure the decision was based on a large extent on the fact that Arshavin is 27 whereas Modric is only 22.

PS - Davai Rossiya!

I will break my head if Arshavin signs for Arsenal. No, not this scenario, God forbid! Can't tolerate him playing for another English team then Spurs.:bang:

What do you know about Davai Rossia? Any Russian connections?

As much as I don't think we need him (because we have Modric now) I would HATE to see him at any of our rivals esp. Arsenal as I wouldn't be able to support him anymore.

About the Russian - I have been studying Russian for 3 years. Spent 8 months in Yaroslavl' last year (went up to St Petersburg for a few days - loved it). My team is Shinnik Yaroslavl' but my favourite team to watch has always been Zenit. I'll always be singing Черно-синие САМЫЕ СИЛЬНЫЕ!
(which is a lie!)
