Some of our fans have been a joke an embarrassment... there all quick to laugh at famous clubs like Liverpool and site their support as delusional.

Already I'm hearing all kinds of bull about Sigurdsson Chadli Dembele Soldado Rose Walker Holtby how there not good enough etc its really sad after three league game...any other supporting fan coming onto this site reading these comments will just laugh

Great opening post. Now what we all need to do is give EVERY member of the squad, our management team and the board our full support. Those expecting a quick fix should go elsewhere, those that support the badge not the player, should sit back and feel proud of the platform that has been built this window as we prepare the next stage in our history. We have the "big boys" genuinely worried (not just by our squad, but with how well run we are) - let's not give their fans the opportunity to undermine that with us turning on individuals whom make mistakes, or endlessly bitching when things don't go our way - we're better than that, and so are our club!

Great post OP. Shared my exact sentiments. It's annoying seeing people getting giddy over Ozil. He is a great player and of course I'd have loved us to get him but people seem to forget they already had a world class player in Van Persie, someone who directly led to a ton of points, so I don't see why they should suddenly now transform into world beaters.

This is the best transfer window I've ever known. Think back to midnight a year ago, all of us praying for Moutinho and ending up with Clint Dempsey. We've wanted a proven striker for years and got one. I'm liking Paulinho and I'm excited to see Lamela and Eriksen. These are some good times.

If Levy made a mistake it was announcing our signings too early. If we'd signed all our new players at 10:55pm last night, nobody would give a second thought to Ozil. It's definitely our best window that I've ever seen, I can't wait for the next game.

I wouldn't read too much into it mate. The one's that make the threads slating our players:

a) After ratings and attention
b) No real knowledge of football

We have an immense squad, every player in our team is absolute quality.

It's all about opinion, I have just listened to the Spurs show and someone on there was saying Chadli is little more than useless.

Then there are opinions like yours, every player in our team is quality, despite having never seen them play in England.

The truth is probably somewhere in between, I for one will wait to see how they settle and watch them play several times before forming an opinion.

If anyone can form an opinion about any player in less than six months of watching them play in the country then that says everything you need to know about them and what they know about football

I really doubt that. I think Arsenal sounded Real and Ozil out about this a good while ago. It was probably how RM raised the finance so easily in the end, they knew full well they were going to pay down half of it instantly.

So everybody should reserve judgement? Like saying Lamela is going to be great?

Absolutely spot on Montasaura. I wish I could give more than one rep. This attitude seems to prevail amongst a big section of our fans at games too.

I do not know what these cry babies expect from our club, we are not a big club (as much as we like to think we are) in terms of income yet we have broken our transfer record 3 times this window and have strength in depth throughout the squad. A squad which is the strongest I think I have ever seen, the best team I have seen for 30 years or more. There may be one or two weaknesses to our eyes but perhaps the staff at the club feel differently.

I just hope some of these exciting young players that we have signed this window are given the opportunity to settle and shine and are not written off by our support, as Chadli seems to have been, far too quickly.

I have no doubt that they planned it out although I personally (and you might agree) don't care who Madrid sell too and I don't see how we'd have any right to dictate what they can do with their own players. All that mattered in the end was that we got a world record fee and got our new players in early. Ozil will improve them but I don't think he'll improve them in the areas that they most needed so I don't buy into the panic about what that lot are doing.

Completely agree with the OP. We have had an immense window in which we have strengthened our first team and squad beyond what many of us would have imagined. Whilst doing this we have also trimmed the squad by transferring players out of the club whom were deemed surplus to requirements/not good enough from the powers that be.

We now have the strongest squad I can ever remember as a Tottenham fan, but we have to remember this is a squad with many new players and they will need time to gel. The only way we as fans can help with this is by getting behind the team (each and every one of the payers, manager, coaching staff, FB and DL.

We may or may not achieve CL qualification this season, but I for one see a very bright future for our beloved club. You know the best things is that we have done this strengthening and made a profit, which is incredibly important considering the plans for the state of the art stadium and having already developed a fantastic training complex.

Reading through this thread and seeing people supporting the OP's post and writing what I just have, has made me incredibly proud to support such an amazing well run club with a potentially very very bright future ahead of us!

COYS!

Couldn't agree more. We just spent £100m and made a profit, yet I read comments saying that our competitors have "spent more" than us and "invested more" in their teams. WTF? They want us to be 100s of millions in debt and bankrupt, not looking forward to a new season with a potentially incredible new team, and a new stadium on the horizon. Personally, I can't wait to go to WHL every other week this season, and I'm more positive than I've ever been as a Spurs fan. Wish people would stop looking for weaknesses, or slating certain players who haven't had any time to prove themselves! Give them a chance and get behind them - a positive atmosphere from the fans can do wonders for a players' confidence, and make them want to try even harder to impress. COYS!

Yes, Most people would never has predicted where GB11 would get to talent wise in the six years he was here. I never saw it and if anyone says they could tell he was going to be this good I wouldn't have believed them. So by the same token how can anyone judge any of the players we have signed this summer.

Totally agree with OP.

The amount of grief Chadli gets from some people on here is utterly insane, I cannot fucking stand it. The boy has been here barely 5 minutes and already getting unwarranted criticism. He's played 3 games so far and has played well, not out of this world but I don't think anyone should think he was going to be a world beater immediately. He has come from an inferior league and is now adjusting to how we play the game here in the PL. Fucks sake give him some damn time.

Then there is Rose. He may never get to be as good as Benny, but then again he might be. Sure Coentrao would have been a better option, but I am happy that our 1st choice LB is Rose. He done well at Sunderland last season which proves he has what it takes with us.

Walker. The boy can perform at this level, we know this, he knows this and more importantly so does AVB. I agree he didn't quite have a good a season last year as he did the previous year, but the fact that he showed that he can do it means he defintiely has the ability. He's only 23, still time to mature and get better and is clearly a confidence player.

Please, please, please get behind the lads this season. They need our support, they will play better if we are behind them,

Have to admit I've let myself get sucked into the petty cockfighting going on with some of the more *ahem* controversial opinions in the ITK Postmortem thread and got a slap on the wrist for my mistake.

Some absolutely ridiculous stuff going on in the forum today and elsewhere on t'interwebs from supposed Spurs fans. It's an absolute nonsense and I think it best to steer clear of any thread that descends into this kind of ridiculous and reactionary trash.

I know there is a thread going about negative fans, I thought this was slightly different in nature but if the mods want to merge then no problem. But yeah, over the last 48 hours I have been embarrassed, ashamed, and even disgusted by some of our fans (whether here on SC or elsewhere).

Firstly I've had to read multiple comments and threads absolutely slating some of our players, the very same players who put the shirt on week in/week out for you the fans. Of course booing happens at the games and scapegoats are sought out after losses...but after only 3 league games? Really? And with new players to the team and league> Players like Chadli and Soldado, closely followed by Rose, Walker, Dembele, Siggy. I just find it really sad and disappointing. As fans, surely our job is to get behind the team (especially the new players) and help push them on? And all this in the wake of the Arsenal match where we performed better than the previous 2 years, with a brand new team. Poor showing from some fans.

Transfers. This is where the anger really started setting in. Really there has been some ridiculous comments about our transfer. People saying it just wasn't good enough, saying they wanted Levy to do more! I'm lucky that I am old enough to have seen some truly magnificent players come and go at the Lane, but never in my lifetime have I seen a window where we strengthened so much at one time. We have internationals in abundance, we have future stars in the making, we have depth and quality. But no, just not good enough for some people. Some people wanted real world class talent without a second's thought that we can't attract such players because we aren't actually Barcelona in disguise. And by saying that the window isn't good enough and we need more does that, in essence, damn the current squad right from the start?? And a lot of this nonsense because a German lad moved in across the road.

Ozil. This is where I truly started to lose it. Yesterday I could have been forgiven for thinking I had accidentally logged on to an Arsenal forum, so rife were the posts about Ozil. Yes Arsenal signed a world class player...so what! Maybe I'm old fashioned but I believe in concentrating in my own team rather than worrying about others. If we perform to our ability, win matches and points, then it shouldn't really matter who the other teams bought. We only have to play them again once in the league, on our turf no less. What Oil does against other teams is of no concern to me as long as we pick up 3 points as well. Should Arsenal finish 2nd and we finish 3rd then, again, I really couldn't care. For me it is all about Spurs and nobody else except our opponents during a match. But suppose we play the game of studying them anyway...I see an a team who have bought a world class player for a position where one wasn't needed. Cazorla created more goal scoring chances last season than Ozil. Yet they are still incredibly thin, will still have a very weak bench, and still have the same weaknesses as before. Sure Ozil will help them but they would have been better off buying three cheaper players for the right position. Anyway, my point is what they do is unimportant, what we do is. Perhaps some fans need to focus more on their own team instead of coming off with suicidal comments about who Arsenal have bought.

I remember a thread on here asking why other team's fans seemed to hate us so much. Currently we have threads laughing at certain teams. It may come as no surprise that they, also, have threads laughing at Tottenham and, from what I have seen over the past couple of days, they have been given plenty of ammunition. We are Spurs fans, surely we are better than that? Perhaps we should all be thankful that we aren't United fans this morning!! So put away your gripes about who others bought, about what positions we didn't strengthen, etc. because we have assembled a remarkable young squad and the best I remember in many, many years. Get behind that team, support them without compromise, and dream because To Dare is To Do COYS!

Superb post.

Good point.

Based on my experience, the more emotionally involved I get when it comes to Spurs has a pretty clear correlation with how my life is going at the time. If I've got shitloads going on, socially very active and generally happy with life then supporting Spurs is one thing of many that I care about and thus undue importance isn't placed on how well we're doing: very happy when we win, disappointed when we lose, but that's about it.

The trouble comes when there's not much going on in my life, or if I'm in a bit of a slump. Suddenly Spurs get more attention, more weight is placed on winning and losing and all of a sudden the performances of a bunch of people who I've never met, and will probably never meet have undue importance placed upon them. It's because it's a piece of escapism. It's seperate from your life. It's always there and it's a reassuring presence.

What I'm basically saying is the moaners are probably sad pathetic individuals and should be pitied rather than hated.

This is so true. It's one of the many parallels football has with religion (the stadium is the church, etc), as it's somewhere to turn to in times of despair, to dare to believe is an act of faith. However, when that belief is not rewarded, it can sometimes result in extreme emotional responses – a loss of faith, if you will.

Going through redundancy consultation at work at the moment and the Arsenal game affected me more than any game in ages, and, surprise surprise, my comments on the game were my least rational in years
