Do you follow football at all? I mean, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but normally they base it on some sort of knowledge.

No, never watched a game once. Just like making random posts about blokes I've never heard of or seen before.

The irony is, despite my lack of footballing knowledge, I clearly know more about the oil tanker that is Michael Dawson than yourself and your far more rounded, educated opinion of him.

Cheerio.

He has to give mulitple interviews on a weekly basis because he is our captain. What do you expect him to say when he's asked about the next game?

Fair point.

I just find his comments exceedingly annoying when you know he's susceptible to making a fool of himself every week.

I don't understand where you're coming from. As club captain Dawson talks to the media and gives the standard "we've got to bounce back", "we've got to keep up our good form", "the team spirit here is great" sort of answers.

I don't recall him bigging himself up at all or hear him asking for regular football so he can go to a world cup.

What comments do you find annoying?

I'd like to hear him acknowledge the numerous individual cock ups he's made that have cost us this season. I don't read any of the garbage he comes out, I just see the headline nowadays and can guess the rest of the generalised tripe he's telling us this week.

Perhaps it's simply the media's reporting of us but I don't recall seeing the same United/City/Chelsea players in the media every week without fail telling everybody how they're going to go this week despite some poor performances. Dawson, in contrast, is relentless with his desire to tell the world how good we're going to be every week.

He has many supporters on here, obviously, including some nut with a Real Madrid badge as his avatar. I don't see how he can continue to be supported other than the fact he wears our shirt. He is an absolute liability at the heart of our defence.

Behave.

He's been here years and has been coming out with his public pep talk on a weekly basis for at least 5 years. Once you've read a few, you've read them all. He's not very original. The difference is that his regular cock ups are now becoming all too frequent. In the last few weeks, we've watched Remy make him look daft, Aguero murder him so harshly that I felt sorry for him, he gifted Fulham the lead on Wednesday and he looked poor against United as well. These kind of pathetic performances make his little pep talks increasingly difficult to take seriously. I reckon the press do it for the craic.

We've got Suarez in a week or so as well ! Dawson v Suarez.....oh God, doesn't bear thinking about.

The fact that he wears our shirt and has a good attitude is a good reason to support him.

I'd be surprised to hear any footballer talk regularly about the mistakes they make so I'm not going to demonise Dawson for not doing so.

If Dawson isn't good enough then it is the job of the manager to sell him. Until a manager does this he has my support.

I know, but he keeps making the same errors. Top players, defenders especially learn from their past mistakes. Dribbling the ball out and playing a sloppy pass to directly set up an attack for the opposing team in our half is simply woeful. He's becoming accomplished at it.

So you're saying that Ferdinand and Luiz, etc., have never made the same mistake twice, and that they are continually finding new ways in which to balls things up? Dawson is the only player in our squad who makes the occasional sloppy pass? (And yet you can only certainly recall three instances in three seasons in which this has led to a goal.)

In reality, his pass completion rate has always been around 85%. If you're looking for someone who gifts the ball to the opposition, look no further than Lloris, who gets barely four passes in ten to one of our players.

I dont know why some players keep passing it back to Lloris at times, would rather the CB's play it out, short of long as, as you say Lloris % on passing is shocking (43.3% but at least his ave is only 17.9 passes a game)
His pass rate is down a little at 83.5% (ave 56 passes a game) at the moment, just below Verts on 84.4% (ave 46.4 passes a game)

Vlad's passing is looking good, 88.3% pass rate with an ave pass per game at 48.3

Dawson is only second in the list of Defenders who try long balls.
Dawson averages 7.5 a game where Vlad is on 8 (these are accurate long balls)
Dawson is way ahead on numbers of attempts due to the number of extra games.

Ia kaboul really still injured? He was fine with 120 mins against Hull and played against city, admittedly he was poor but who wasn't? I really want him back in the team now

Why, if he isn't up to it?

For the umpteenth time, the defence isn't a problem. We have conceded just 15 in 14, which really isn't very Spurs-like at all, and without that freak six-goal thumping at the Etihad things would be better still. So why this half-baked scapegoating of Dawson when we can't score for toffee?

Where have I scapgoated Dawson? How do you know kaboul's not up to it just cos Avb's not picking him? Fine for 120 mins against Hull, yeah shit against city but who wasn't. Fwiw I've never criticised Dawson on this forum. Despite the defensive record I think we've looked shakey, remember the Sheriff game for an example? But possession football's been our saving grace on that front

Go umpteenth time your missus

You haven't, but it's the intention of the thread.

You're suggesting that AVB doesn't know his job?

Yes, he was shit against City, wasn't he? I didn't think he looked that great against Hull, as it happens, but then our defence wasn't overly exerted. Nevertheless, you really want him back. Do think about this.

So you're not troubled by the fact we can't score for toffee?

I'm not convinced by avb yet and I find some of his selections baffling.

I didn't sugges he looked great against Hull just that he played the whole game untroubled really. He would no doubt need a run of games to get back to his best form and yes I do really want him back as I think he's one of the best in the league before he got injured.

I don't know how you got that I'm not troubled by our inability to score from my post, it's something I find very worrying and I think it'll cost avb his job

Most of which are back to our keeper.
