Well, how convenient it is that when someone asks you to support your claims with a ranking your conwardly back on on the basis that " life is too short".

It's funny how life wasn't too short for your reply, or, for that matter, all of your ranting posts in this thread.

Well how convenient indeed.

Stockport level WUM mate. Stockport. (apologies to Stockport fans)

Do you think we have a squad as good as the other top four sides, or the contenders (such as Pool)?

Our strikers are the poorest out of the challengers. We fucked up badly by not getting someone in. Say what you want about Suarez, when not scoring he has been creating for Pool.

Our defenders are shakey (Disco Benny aside) and make mistakes. Dawson is good, but is error prone. King and Woodgate, the two best defenders in the country, never play. They make Gomes's job twice as hard.

All our best players sit in midfield.

So, do you think a top class midfielder is enough for us to all harbour an expectation that we have top class finishes because our squad is supposedly miles better than before?

In contrast, during the season mentioned already we have players like Ginola, Anderton, Ferdinand, Klinsmann and Carr (who back then was half decent). Are these players who couldn't get anywhere near our side today?

Yes I think we have a squad as good as the other top 4 challengers.

Yes our strikers are poor, but they have been capable enough to bag a respectable number of goals in previous seasons so their return this season is disappointing (harking back to previous years here IS relevant I feel because a) they are the same people and b) we are using last season as a reference point rather than an entirely different squad of players from a different decade). I also agree we fucked up by not getting someone in like Suarez, another reason why this season is disapointing, as he has now moved to Liverpool and is performing well, there is one less option for the Summer.

Our defenders have appeared shakey yes, which is incredibly disappointing given how solid we were with the same set of playerrs last year, minus Gallas actually who has been deemed a success despite the increased number of goals shipped.

A top class midfield isn't all we have, we have our best keeper in years, our best defenders in years, our best midfield in years and a bunch of strikers who are all regular internationals for decent nations. For this reason I feel we are entitled to expect that the team should perform better than in previous eras, rather than think ourselves lucky that we have managed to win nothing and likely finish outside of th Euro places, because at least we weren't relegation fodder.

It's really very simple. Last season was considered our best season for god knows how many years.

This season we will, at most, finish two positions below where we were last year but having had the added bonus of a very good Champions League run.

Anyone who thinks this season was 'awful' must have ranked last season as 'pretty rubbish' which suggests that only winning the league every year would be acceptable to these fans.

based on last season you can say that it could be a bad season, but we could say last season we over performed, or other teams around us under performed.

while many of us will be disappointed with the end of the season, as we wanted CL again, we have shown that we haven't got what it takes to compete in 2 large competitions.

Two teams that played in the Europa league might be getting 4th and 5th....

Looking at this season over the last 5-10 years and seeing that we have improved from a team sitting above relegation to a team that is fighting for top 4 for the last few season we have improved.

Of course the aim is to do better than the previous year but it can't be an expectation. It's not like everyone can do better than the year before is it?

It was Harry that said we had an outside chance of winning the League, so he raised the expectation and should take the consequences for the way the season has fallen away.
It has been a truely disappointing season and it is about time that Harry admitted that instead of starting to come out with how hard it is to finish in the top 4. He liked to take the credit when things were going well, but now it is always "just one of those days" and "we just can't seem to win a game". I thought winning games was what the manager's job was about. I have given up waiting for Harry to say that our poor form is his responsibility, doubt if he ever will.
Not an awful season , but certainly disappointing, and the manager has been the biggest disappointment.

im sorry but this is complete rubbish. How many times have you sat there shouting at the screen as Mr Wenger has completley ignored the fact that his team have lost and blamed everyone but himself?

Not as rubbish as that.

You can count on one hand how many time's Wenger has publicly critisised his players.

Our exit from the two domestic cups was awful, no doubt.

Our season though was pretty good up until February. Going well in the league, talk of a title tilt, still ticking over in the Champs League.

What the fuck has happened in the last 10-12 games, I have no idea? Completely blown a good platform.

Could be attitude, could be hype believing, could be a lack of tactical nous, could be inexperience, could be Redknapp making excuses, could be a number of things.

One thing is for sure, this summer transfer window is MASSIVE if we aren't to regress. Need to keep Sandro, Modric, Bale and VdV and sign a couple of top drawer players to compete with the big boys next year.

When has redknapp criticised his players? he has had plenty of oppotunity to do that recently? And this seems rather like the pot calling the kettle black. seeing some of the posts on this forum.

"saying I fell ill b4 the game is bull****," Lennon raged on his Twitter account. ...

"Sandra would have scored that"

Blackpool 3 spurs 1

"We were missing chances from four yards out as though it was going out of fashion," Redknapp said. "It was just unreal."

Awful season? :bang::bs:

its been a disappointed at times but the CL has made it a bit better!

if you want awful seasons, look back at some of these....

2009/2010 FA Prem 4th
2008/2009 FA Prem 8th
2007/2008 FA Prem 11th
2006/2007 FA Prem 5th
2005/2006 FA Prem 5th
2004/2005 FA Prem 9th
2003/2004 FA Prem 14th
2002/2003 FA Prem 10th
2001/2002 FA Prem 9th
2000/2001 FA Prem 12th
1999/2000 FA Prem 10th
1998/1999 FA Prem 11th
1997/1998 FA Prem 14th
1996/1997 FA Prem 10th
1995/1996 FA Prem 8th
1994/1995 FA Prem 7th
1993/1994 FA Prem 15th
1992/1993 FA Prem 8th

Apart from 3 season we dont normally finish above 7th..... and i know but we are a team trying to get higher in the league and all that, and i agree, but to call it awful is a joke in itself

We have has some awful luck with injuries and made some stupid/silly mistakes in games and if we didnt we would be ahead of city now.

The Lennon one isn't a criticism imo.
Harry said he felt ill before the game, and by the sounds of what others have said this is true.

What Lennon was anoyed at (IMO) was people thinking he bottled it and only becaume ill before the game, so the rant on twitter was saying that it wasn't the case and he had been ill for a week or few days (cant remember which)

No one knows the truth but them, not the point.

He has made him look a right wotsit. Embarrased the man, and created a gulf between them.

Do you think Lennon would be so angry if that was true?

No one needed to know, that sort of thing needs to stay in the dressing room.

If nothing was said and Lennon was just dropped from that game we would have the crack pots on here with their tin hats comming up with more BS as to why he was dropped.

Nothing wrong with Harry saying he was ill.
Its the fans that keeped saying he bottled it that made them selves look stupid.

Yes, but Lennon probably doesn't read their moranic garbage!!

The fact he responded as angrily as he did shows how his pride was hurt, and his poor form and exclusion since the first 11 since can't be merely a coincidence.

I think Harry knew exactly what he was saying.
