his pride was hurt.....

If Lennon's twitter was to Harry then i think he has blown it way out of proportion.

Lennon has said he was ill, and Harry never said (that i remember) that they only knew he was ill before the game, just that he was ill before the game and had to change the line up.

To me that was Harry wanting him to play and giving him every chance to play, he didn't make it and Harry gave the reason (that sounds true) that he was ill.

Lennon needs to man the fuck up if thats his problem

If nothing was said and Lennon was just dropped from that game we would have the crack pots on here with their tin hats comming up with more BS as to why he was dropped.

Nothing wrong with Harry saying he was ill.
Its the fans that keeped saying he bottled it that made them selves look stupid.

To be fair if you listen to his comments again, he doesn't exactly stick up for Lennon. Even the interviewer picked up on his tone regarding Lennon. To me, he sounds like he is questioning Lennon and feels he should have played. If he had even mentioned that Lennon was ill for the previous few days (which he actually stopped himself saying during the interview) I think the situation would have played out a lot better. If I was Lennon I would have been angry with Harry's handling of the situation, it did come over as Lennon had "pussied out".

The cynic in me, or the part that is getting more frustrated with Redknapp with each poor result, would suggest that Redknapp made his player look bad to preserve his own rep. If he had come out and said he knew Lennon was ill but was gonna take a chance on him regardless, but this backfired right before the match, the media would have rightly questioned Redknapp's decision.

Easier for him to imply that Lennon was struck down right before kick-off, however as it panned out no-one came out of that situation looking particularly clever.

Just one possibility anyway.

This. Whatever the situation, it was badly handled. Either he was ill before or he wasn't. If he was, Harry should have said so in his explanation. If he wasn't, Lennon's lying and a bit of a pussy. I think the former seems more likely

Agree, it would also explain Lennon getting so irate with Harry implying the latter.

For me the season has been far from awful. Even finishing 6th is not a disaster.

What I will say is that it's been hugely frustrating, as I believe that this season more than any was our chance to finish in the top 3. Anyway it didn't happen for various reasons but finishing 6th is not the worst thing in the world. Just a huge opportunity missed, but still one of our top3-4 EPL seasons. Which probably says a lot about our EPL history over the last 20 odd years more than anything.

It seems to me that Harry had to imply that Lennon withdrew just before kick-off because to the millions watching the game it was obvious that Jenas was being sent out with only a last minute briefing.

This begs the questions - what sort of manager fails to prepare a detailed contingency plan when he knows one of his key first team players has been ill for a couple of days?

"saying I fell ill b4 the game is bull****," Lennon raged on his Twitter account. ...

"Sandra would have scored that"

Blackpool 3 spurs 1

"We were missing chances from four yards out as though it was going out of fashion," Redknapp said. "It was just unreal."
Didn't you say you can count on one hand how many times Wenger criticises his players?

I'm counting one finger from you so far (the Lennon thing has proved to be a misunderstanding).

Well that took me 8 seconds to think of those off the top of my head, and Wenger has been the manager for 15 years.

Lennon thing hasn't proved to be anything. The rumour mill would suggest quite the opposite has been proved.

Can we just bring back Christian Gross? I long for the days of Armstrong and Iversen up front, and Stephen Clemence shielding the defence. Oh better yet, Andy Booth! Roger Nillson!

You're actually all idiots. Even those who agree with me. (Well, not those who agree with me, you're awesome. But the rest of you. And jimbo.)

The thing I don't understand is, many posters on here don't have fully appreciated how bloody difficult this season was going to be. City were always going to strengthen and would always be our main threat to fourth. Manchester United are Manchester United, Chelsea strengthened (on the back of the double), Arsenal were always going to be the same threat - so why on earth people seem to think we could walk in to the Champions League is beyond me. Yes, we've drawn too many games - but this Premier League has been a very odd one. Up until about a month ago, 3 teams could still win the title, and 10 could go down. It's hard to buck a seasonal trend of everyone beating everyone, but it's been just that.

Spurs Specs off. Last year, City let their foot off the gas and we had a rousing couple of wins against Arsenal, Chelsea and tonight's opponents too. But aside from that we had some equally woeful performances although not culminating in as bad a run as this. I mean we lost to a terrible Portsmouth side in the FA Cup semi final and that was in April.

We've played better football this year. But we've been found wanting in the finishing department - we can go back and forth as to why that striker was just 'elusive', but we don't know one way or the other - and for me, it's pointless blaming it on Harry or Levy and not blaming it on players that didn't want to come or clubs that didn't want to sell.

It seems to many that once we're linked with a player, if we don't end up signing him then it's either Harry's fault or Levy's fault. Nothing to do with the most important parts in this, the selling club and the target player. So until many more people accept that, I doubt we're ever going to get out of the psychology of blaming management for failing to sign players; especially when opinions are so agenda-based.

I've digressed. And I'm sad to think that changing it all is actually sounding like a viable solution from some. Tell me the management changes of the Top 4 clubs recently? City, with the wealth infinite kept with Mancini and kept a core to his side. This is how you win things.

What has happened in the past should have no bearing on how we perceive the present and the future. This has been a massively disappointing season, with a dreadful league run.

Im afraid it has alot to do with how you perceive the pressent and the future.

In terms of the last few years, not something that happened 20 years ago...

LOL.

You are the king of the smilies and I cant fault your use. One day I will get to this level. But seriously....

Your emotican units do display it in a basic succint way but look deeper and you will see why it is wrong.

We won the league cup in 1999 and 2008. Got to the final a year later. We also had a few FACUP semi finals. These were good to great seasons. Not spectacular but the great seasons yield a trophy and a facup semi final against the scum or whoever is exciting and good.

Drawing 9 home games isnt awful for Stoke or Blackburn or even West Ham but it is for us imo. I hold Spurs in quite high regard.

I trulely loved beating the scum. Fantastic. And I loved the cl run. But who seriously thought we were contenders? A welcome break from reality and I wont deny it did flash through my mind at times 'it could happen, it really could' but I never really convinced myself. Hard as I tried.

I was also at the game when scum beat us 4-1. That was awful, at least I stayed to the bitter end though, then Fulham tonked us 4 nil in the cup, that was awful. There have been many more awful performances than good or great one's this season.

And now will probably finish 6th. Before xmas we were touted as champions by our manager thank God we got the points on the board before teams worked us out

Wait, earlier on you and your buddies were telling is that cup runs were irrelevant.

So, to you a mid-table finish and a Carling Cup or an FA Cup semi final is a good season, and a Champion's League quarter final and top six finish is awful?

Seriously mate, are you on drugs or something? You do realise that the object of football is not to get "promoted" to League Two, right?
