This is the guy we should get and would be perfect for the system. Calm, mentality monster, very good passing, ball playing LCB. Would be the calming influence that Romero needs next to him. £30mill is a steal for his quality!

Vdv - Laporte - Romero - Emerson would be a solid back 4.

If ange wants 2 to push into the centre, Laporte and Emerson can do this, vdv tucks in.

Would make a lot of sense to get him. We have to be careful not to flood the side with too many youngsters. We still need some older heads around to lead and provide experience and Laporte would give us all of that.

Unless Barca have some levers to pull this could be a great option. VDV could learn from him and also be a LB option as well.

Should have plenty of scope wages wise with Kane and Lloris leaving.

30m is a crazy price. Surely they could get more for him as he has 2 years left on his contract?
Worth noting that he's 29 so I'd say that's a fair price.

Got a feeling he will move abroad though, or perhaps Villa? Can't see City selling to us (they have enough trouble scoring at our ground)

if we sense he’s up for it then bring him in, right blend and all that

Suspect Levy won’t push the boat out so this only has a chance of happening with Kane money

Bringing him in makes it 100% clear to the deadwood they ain’t getting a look in so leave or rot

Dont think Villa will pursue Laporte as they already have Pau Torres at LCB.

Does anyone else remember reading about this lad being a dick, and that’s why France never called him up? I swear I read that and it’s all I think of when I read his name. Worried I’ve been smearing the lad (and am continuing to do so).

Until you said so, I always thought thought this player was Argentinian, seriously. But you are correct, just googled it.

Perfect for us but not getting my hopes up.

Think he's more likely to go to Saudi for money, Barca / Madrid for football, or Bilbao for family.

Too late, I've already got my hopes up.

If we have VDV already, I can see a strong case being made for taking Laporte over Tapsoba given the reported fee for both.

Incredible value to be had here and his experience will be immeasurable during the rebuild.

Think if Kane was staying I’d want Laporte more as he’d give us a massive instant improvement.

But if Kane is leaving then I’d lean into the younger player in Antonio Silva.

I understand where you're coming from, but I would argue that if Kane is leaving, then it's even more important to bring in an experienced head like Laporte.
