La Liga isn't that much different to the Prem. I could understand him saying that if he went to Italy but he didn't. The reasons he's average there - and bar a handful of excellent moments, he has been average - are because;

A) Ronaldo is so much the daddy there that every single thing goes through him. He hasn't scored from a free kick for over a season and yet still no one else gets a look in.

B) He's been constantly played out of position since his arrival, though since Benitez has come in, he has started to play more central. On top of that, nearly all his team mates, bar Modric, play a more difficult ball to Ronaldo rather than a simple pass to Bale. This genuinely happens lots by the way, even though it sounds stooopid.

3) He's a lot lazier than he was at Spurs. I think it's because he's trying to save his energy for stronger finishes towards the end of games but he just isn't tackling back much and it makes him look lazy when he's not attempting to get a ball a few feet away from him. This doesn't endear himself with the fans, therefore more pressure to succeed in other areas of the game, which hasn't really happened for him since his first season there.

4) He's lost about 50/75% of his confidence. Nowhere near as many marauding runs in the middle of the pitch where he was so dangerous under AVB. Not even too many dribbles down the wing. Lots of passes back on the edge of the box Kyle Walker style, rather than doing something special with it. Yet he's still scoring goals and getting lots of assists. Imagine if he hit form. The media have been giving it to him and that's not helped. He's the most expensive player in the world and is so far behind the top attackers now (Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic etc) when he should be alongside them.

That's my take on it anyway. Would love him back here but obviously won't happen unless we get taken over by rich Arabs once the new stadium is built. He's probably heading to Utd, they've been so utterly boring under LVG they'll continue trying for him until the Spanish media force him out.

I think he was bought as Ronaldo's replacement, as RM expected ManUre to buy him. When they didn't it left GB as a spare part. If GB stays, at RM, he will come into his own when Ronaldo leaves or retires!

And Tottenham have the ball, it goes back to Lloris, he spreads it wide to Walker who feeds it back into Alderweireld, now Dier, plays a 1-2 with Dele Alli who has Bale running into space on the left, he finds him with a great pass, Bale, beats one, then another, and Kane makes a dart toward the near post, KANE!!!! WONDERFUL TOTTENHAM TEAM GOAL.

It's nice to dream.....

I would hope that the fact he continues to say nothing but great stuff about Spurs, and the weight of support he still has from our fans, that Levy will see the sense in making sure that when the time comes that he is available whatever we offer him in wages is competitive.

The price of him moving will be a different argument, as i'm almost certain Madrid still owe us, but if Dan is still in two minds, just have him imagine Toby firing them big crosses with superhuman like accuracy and a rampaging Welshman being at the other end... hard to argue.

Come home boy! You might not make our first team immediately, but you'd get your chances through the inevitable injuries - apply yourself & you just might be able to work your way back into the finest team the world has ever seen!! (y)

Oh. & bring Luka back with you too!

Kane and Bale in same team won't work.

The thing is, he's still an incredible player even if he does think that in general his form has dropped. He scored at the weekend (albeit against average opposition), but aside from that the power and pace he showed when running with the ball was something to behold.

I would let him come back if he stops making that stupid heart thing with his digits.

Great player but I don't think I'd want him back tbh. I remember MP saying before on a few occasions he'd rather try and turn someone into a player as good as Messi than have Messi himself in his side.
