Not really. When playing as LW one has the freedom to not worry so much for all the empty space they leave behind and now they can commit more effort into going forward.

He has the engine to run the whole flank all game long and the cms cover him when necessary so it's not an issue really.

Right this second Redknapp has just said he's better at leftback.

i think the pairing of bale and BAE could be a winner for the next 10 years.

I have always said that he is much better as LW and should not have his natural talent wasted just because he can play well as LB. Me and few others on here were slagged off for sticking up with it. Well the prove is right in front of everyone's eyes. People should not be arguing anymore that he is better off as LB, if they do they should not be taken seriously.

it's not wasted though as when he plays LB he's amazing too

the fact that he's got the stamina of a pure breed race horse means he can play deeper and still be just as effective

How is him playing well from LM proof that he isn't a LB? If he was shit at leftback I would understand this thread, but he hasn't been , he is just as impressive in an attacking sense from defense.

No. It seems you are coming late on the scene. The discussion that has been going on for a while here is - what is Bale better off as LW or LB? Nobody is saying that he is shit playing one or the another.

This argument just proves the dilemma around Bale's position. Those that tell us Bale's a "left back" then we see how magnificently he operates on the left wing, for anyone shouting down the suggesting he should be player left wing /left back must surely understand its not clear cut.

Having a player who can slot in and be as effective at LB and LW gives 'Arry so much flexibility.

I'd prefer Bale at LB and Modric LW as it frees up space for Palacios in the middle - as another has said, Modric has been stunning in the middle, so Palacios left wing? hehe

Trust me I have seen all the discussion, it's been done to death already and the fact that he had a good game from LM does not mean he isn't a leftback, it's completely irrelevant to the discussion unless he also plays poorly at left back.

I really don't get how you can say he is wasted at left back, he still spends plenty of time in the final third so what is wasted exactly?

Before the game Harry said Bale on current form is the best left back in the world. And he responds by sparkling on the LW.

He has the talent to play in both positions but at the moment he is such a force for us going forward that it would seem like putting him in shackles to ask him to stay back and defend.

Luckily we have the squad to be able to play him in either position and still have quality in the position he doesn't play in.

He was simply marvelous tonight, but I maintain he will be easier to mark for teams at LW than at LB. If he stays in midfield they will double up on him and kick him out of the game, but from LB he is always the spare man and is almost impossible to mark.

In then end it doesn't matter where he plays though, if he keeps improving he can destroy teams from anywhere!

Gareth Bale is a left sided footballer.

He can play LB
He can play LM

Why the fuck are people unable to understand this?

It's not X-Box you fuckin idiots.

Still a definite left back for me and I expect to see him there against United, with Modric moving back out to the left to accomodate Palacios.

Harry said in his post match interview that he's a left back, but he can play all over, he's that good.

It's funny to think that back in Jan he was being linked with a move to Nottingham Forest for something daft like 3 mill.

What a daft thread title and opening post.

Bale is better at left back, he's just also better then most on the left wing also.

I do love these threads where people jump on a bandwaggon rather than thinking long-term...

E.g. he could have to go back to left-back due to tactics / player availability and have a storming run there and someone will then start a thread called 'Bale, left midfielder? Really?'.

It's a matter of time before Fergie comes knocking on Levy's door, You just know it's going to happen.

i am shit scared of this actually happening at the end of this season. Cteh could also come knocking though with their shit loads of cash. we need to be strong this season and say NOOOOOOOO!!!!
