Gareth Bale could be banned from for playing for Tottenham while the Olympics are on, according to FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

Is this plum serious? did i miss somewhere that it said all players that team GB wanted had an obligation to play in the Olympics? Will Richards get a ban for refusing to go on standby for England during the Euro's?
While were at it ban every player that took early retirement from international duty........ I mean how dare they?

Blatter hates the idea of a Team GB, rightly or wrongly (I do see merit in his argument), but this is so petty.

If there is any logic (which is not guararteed when Blatter is involved) nothing will happen.

He withdrew because he was injured, they would have submitted medical stuff to Team GB if they requested it.

He has potentially recovered from injury earlier than expected. It happens.

He really is such a ****. I hold on to the hope that one day, FIFA will be cleaned up and people like him held accountable for the shocking practices of FIFA (allegedly ;))

I can however see how Team GB and Stuart Pearce could have the hump about it. He would have made a massive difference to that squad. Glad he pulled out though, really couldn't give a shit about GB footy.

I am known as the Blatter,
Like a man, just shorter n fatter,
I'm a disease like strep, but you can call me Sepp.
FIFA's rotting under my absulote rule,
From goal line technology to youth schools,
I'll rip out common sense and poison innovation,
Unless it benefits me, like election lunacy.

Blatter said that the country's FA would have to complain before they do anything... so I take it the Welsh FA would need to complain? Would they really be that bothered about Bale not playing for team GB?

Blatter also said that Bale would not be able to play for his club during the olympics... so I assume Blatter would then compensate THFC for Bale's wages during this time??? Doubt it.

There is no way Levy would allow this. there are plenty of examples where a player is withdrawn from international duty when they were potentially fit to play.

Blatter should just mind his own business.

Surely the argument of "I didn't want to play for that shit**** Stuart Pearce who once put David James up front with his own specially made outfield shirt because he needed a goal" is more than good enough to explain his absence....?

And he had a great chance to score as well. Fluffed it.

True...and as someone else said, above, Team GB would have had to have submitted all of the relevant paper-work when he was withdrawn from the squad with injury - is there any regulation that a club can't give a player, who has officially been withdrawn injured, a run-out in a friendly to see how far along they are?

To name but one, Beetroot Head has pulled the old injured just before international call-up but suddenly reappearing fit for a vital league game the following weekend stunt inumerous times with fack-all done about it - but now that there is even a hint of something from Spurs they are up in arms about it.

I think we did release bale but then he got injured and came back earlier than expected, I think some other teams didn't release their players

If in response to me: yeah, I know, that's not what I am saying. I am drawing the comparison that Beetroot Head doesn't even release players on the pretext that they are injured, but miraculously appear again the following weekend and nothing is ever done, but we did release Bale and in withdrawing him, Team GB verified that he was injured.

If not ini response to me:  SORRY (y)

Team GB surely don't come under Fifa's jurisdiction as they're not a football nation. So he can go f*** himself and get back to his, now proven, corrupt organisation.
And besides, Bale pulled out because he wasn't fit for a competitive tournament. Playing in a friendly is slightly different.
I'm sure there would've been restrictions on calling up a replacement, ie if he'd kept Team GB waiting on his fitness then decided he couldn't make it. The squad is only 15 outfield players so I'm sure Pearce wouldn't risk 1 being unfit.

that is all fine but Blatter is a strong advocate of goal line technology. By all means be critical, but make sure it is accurate.

What do Fifa have to do with the Olympics? Nothing.

This is just another ridiculous piece of internet rubbish.
