I really dislike them footballs but on this occasion I loved it. Bale is king

It reminds me of school playing with a plastic ball, changing direction on the shots! It doesn't look very natural at all!

It does look like it's going to curl in the direction Reina is going but when it passes the wall it suddenly shifts direction, but it doesn't look like it's a deflection either. Weird.

Reina expects a curl by the inside of the foot but Bale hits it with the outside/middle part of the foot. That's how I see it.

Reina goes the wrong way after the ball is struck . Weird goal , unless Bale put a massive spin on it where the ball changes direction in mid flight .

OR Reina was convinced for some other reason that the ball was going to his left (even after it was kicked) and basically ran out of the way of the shot which went down the middle . In which case he fucked up badly .

Edit....I'm coming nearer the conclusion that Bale hit it with the outside of his left foot and the ball veered from heading one way (to Reina's left) and simply bent back to the middle

even how he stands before he hits it in Ronaldos superman stance lol

Why is Bale trying to look like Ronaldo? I'm not a Ronaldo lover or anything, in fact I think he is overrated, but he invented that stance, it's his trademark so to speak, so Bale trying to copy it feels so :yuck:. I really liked Bale's original stance when he would have his left leg a bit extended forward while using his right left to support the weight of his body - i thought that was quite unique. That was his trade mark, Bale's trademark.

But we never scored from any Free kicks, now he has changed how he hits them, we score! and look like scoring...

We don't because nobody ever practices those. It's that obvious.

It was a deflection, how often are we gonna get a deflection like that? The last time was who F knows when. He has been taking these kind of free kicks for a while now and that's the first time he has scored.

He used to score free kicks in the top corners, striking the ball with great precision, now he is just doing the Ronaldo impersonation - whooping them towards the frame hoping that they take some random wild curve, "the wind is gonna carry it over" whatever and mislead the goalkeeper.

It's clearly not a deflection, and he's getting closer and closer, scored a cracking one for Wales!

It was a deflection, the ball not only changed direction when it reached the wall it also changed its trajectory. It hit Henderson #14, who was right in the middle of the wall and who also committed the foul on Dempsey, on the head.

I've looked at it many times, and I can't see any contact with Henderson even though the change in direction would indicate it. If there was contact you'd think there'd be some effect on the spin on the ball but I can't remember seeing anything change other than the swerve.

And not in a million years if it was a foul on Dempsey in the first place either. :p

It wasn't a dive either. I guess it was just Karma getting in the way of Liverpool.

It was identical to his free kick against Serbia, where he cuts across the ball.

How is he overrated??

what does it matter how he stands its what happens after he hits the ball that matters, he could stand on his his head for all i care !!

Reina is a very good keeper. That was just a great free kick

No way, it moved around a little bit and went through a gap in the ball but it was hit pretty much down the middle of the goal. If that had been a Spurs keeper running in completely the wrong direction to where the ball was heading then they would be getting it in the neck on this forum.

As for Reina in general, will regularly commit an error and whenever I have seen him he is pretty suspect at crosses, the amount of times I have seen him come out, wave an arm at it and get nowhere near it... He's good, but not up there in the top bracket.
