That is horiffic. The FA, Crewe, man City have alot to answer for.

I thought they would have tried to dig deeper into this after that Chelsea coach was caught... Graham Rix was it?
That was an underage girl but all kinds of stuff like this has gone on at football clubs. A breeding ground for abuse and grooming (I know from personal experience).
Do tell? I was reading one of the city boards, and alot of the posters had heard rumours or played for some of those teams at the time.
You don't forget but you can forgive. Water under the bridge Hoops and some very good people would be hurt if they knew some of the things that went on.
Ah sorry, I thought you meant pro clubs.. Wasnt trying to get personal. Sorry.
Because they can, unfortunately.Very brave of Paul Stewart. Not easy to go public with things. He has three children and has to think about them too.
Good luck to him
Why do so many bastards abuse their position and destroy so many lives?
If Gradi knew about this stuff at the time (and he probably knew, or at least must have had a suspicion), shouldn't he get his collar felt for aiding and abetting? The abuse is bad enough, but the fact it was swept under that carpet by Crewe and the FA in the '90s is truly shameful. All that praise Dario Gradi got, and this guy wouldn't even speak out when he knew one of his coaches had abused boys.
Abuse of men in general is often downplayed or ignored until it can't be ignored any longer. I can't say I'm surprised by this news. Wherever there are children, there will be potential for peados.
It doesnt surprise me if men reported it less. I was abused by a neighbour when I was 9. It took until I was 35 to tell anyone about it and deal with it. To this day I make excuses for my very abusive ex, because society teaches us that Domestic Abuse is what men perpetrate and women suffer. Domestic Abuse against men now is very much hidden, though it goes on all the time. The narrative below the surface, that men should be men and just suck it up sickens me.
My mate's going through an abusive relationship now but can't see it, she owns him
How do you know this? Every story i've read says there's no suggestion Gradi knew, he himself has said the first he heard of Bennell's crimes was in 1994 when he got convicted in Florida, i've seen nothing suggesting he knew and indeed one article actually says that, how can they have got it so wrong?........Have you got a link? The abuse is bad enough, but the fact it was swept under that carpet by Crewe and the FA in the '90s is truly shameful. It's certainly the last time I ever buy his gravy.
@Hoops posted the link a page back. Here is the links and some quotes. The quotes from Dario Gradi don't have context, but I would suggest that is purely in regards to the kids staying over at Bennell's (though I don't understand why you wouldn't have a problem with that either) and he probably didn't know what was actually going on.How do you know this? Thanks. I think that as you quite rightly say, context is key. I think for now i'm going to stay with "he didn't know" until its clarified because we also have the 1994 quote. The FA head of coaching mentioned in the article must be shitting himself right now and probably isn't the only one.@Hoops posted the link a page back. Here is the links and some quotes. Another City director called Bennell 'a starmaker'. And as long as he delivered the goods, the game didn't ask questions.
'We didn't see a problem,' said Crewe's manager, Dario Gradi, who knew boys stayed overnight with Bennell.
