Happy with the point at the end.

We're so solid nowadays, even when we're sloppy, we stand firm. Love it.

This is mos def the silver lining. Under AVB we showed the same issue of just letting a team take over and dictate, but what we have fixed is the leaky, soft nature of our game.

Those reactions by Lloris to stop the ball on the line. Just see it again and wow, it's like one of the fastest movements by a person I've ever seen!

You've obviously never seen my mate leave the pub when it's his turn to by a round.

He misplaced balls when we were attacking but stabilized central midfield. The CB's started to get more confident passing out through the middle when he came on, the full backs then pushed up and that's why we looked so much better for the last 10 minutes compared to the rest of the 2nd half
I saw it more that Leverkeusen ran out of steam pressing - and we could breathe a bit. Dembele was very sloppy.

Seeing a team like Leicester virtually qualify from their group so easily really pisses me off at our wastefulness. We need to be so much more clinical in games. !st West Brom, now Bayer. Its annoying how we dominate halves with umpteen clear cut chances to score and we eff them all up.
I don't know why we aren't able to be more clinical in games, is it a mental thing or are we not doing enough on the training pitch to cut this sloppiness out in front of goal..?

Their group is shit.

I can't believe how few shots we generate. Even when we're playing well, we just hardly ever seem to get into a position where a forward player either works some space and shoots, or lays the ball off successfully and another player shoots.

The only one who seems to try and do it is Son.

We seem to have become the new Arsenal, desperately tippy-tappying around inside the box trying to create a goal where we end up pushing it over the line with someone's arse cheeks.

True but I think we've been like that since the Redknapp days.

Just because he isn't up to speed doesn't mean it wasn't the right call. They played possum with their press since we didn't really pose too much threat. There was still no control of the MF by either team in the 1st. If we had it perhaps our chances would have been higher quality. They handed us our asses in the 2nd when they dominated MF. Just because it didn't give us the MF impetus that was expected doesn't mean that a change for that purpose was incorrect.
So taking off a player who was playing excellent and replacing him full stop. That was never the right call.

Lamela for NKD or Sissoko yes, but not Janssen.

What, so we are not allowed to discuss the performance of the day in the match day thread.

Get over yourself...

No it is not allowed. Poch will go home now wnd not have anything to work on and wont wwtch the tape again to see why we didnt perform. Theyre all wanking themselves silly over the point regardless of performance

Janssen can't last longer than an hour. He completely goes to pieces, no stamina.
An hour? He can't last longer than 30'. He's always very good up until around that 30' mark and is non existant afterward. He doesnt have the stamina to be a starter at this point in time. Needs a lot of work on his fitness.

We seemed to get more control after Dembele came on, I can see Poch's logic with leaving Son up top instead of Vic to hit them on the counter. We still couldn't string 3 passes together but at least it stopped the immense battering they were giving us the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half.

The substitution they made at half time completely changed the game and we couldn't cope. We ended up playing continual sloppy passes and were nearly the masters of our own downfall. But we got a
Point and we should be happy with that. Can't wait to take my seat at Wembley.

Janssen was blowing as per usual around the 60 min mark. He literally becomes useless as I keep saying the guy needs to get fitter to stay in this team but it's not his fault he's playing so much right now as he wasn't meant to be a playing so many games.

Some of our players have been playing abroad, thousands of miles away in the case of Lamela. I think they rested some players for this game and duly lost at the weekend. This was a good result.
Might be true, but if we had players who were not fit to play, we should have seen a different line up. "It's a squad game these days" and all that, surely we have enough players that we don't need to use players who *shouldn't* be up for it.

Can you remind me of the positive impact he had? As my eyes aren't what they used to be.

He was strong on the ball and won the ball back quite a few times. 0k he miss placed a few passes but I thought he made us more solid after he came on

Next time we complain about being wasteful in front of goal, least we know we're not the only ones.
