Evening one and all,

I just got off the phone with a mate who works at Spurs, he's just informed me that someone has told him we shall be signing Ben Foster in the summer. That's all I know, no idea of the cource or fee or anything, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I'd be very surprised if he left United.

Come to think of it, I'm also very surprised he isn't second choice behind Van der Sar and in front of Kusczscak (sp?) so maybe Fergie wouldn't say no to letting him go.

Good keeper. Back up to Robbo if he comes and most probably first choice within a season. Amongst the English keepers, he's near the top of the tree for his age.

Yep and with the 99 top euroean strikers we are being linked with, we should have an impressive squad next season

We could go all spanish and produce a 'B' team to play in the second division

You dont seriously think that Robbo wil be Tottenham's No1 at the start of next season do you?

Foster is already a better keeper than Robbo from what I saw of him in his time at Watford (Robbo's goal aside obviously). He is a very good shotstopper and seems to command his area pretty well (considering he played with a toss defence at Watford).

Maybe too young and inexperienced to trust as our number 1 now...but I suppose if you're good enough you're old enough.

Definitely TSH, if you're good enough you're old enough.

Example from a lesser league I know, but Fredrikstad in Norway before the start of this season sold their goalkeeper, Rami Shaaban (ex Arse but never played for them and current Swedish no.2), which left them with two 20 year olds as their goalies. The one who's started all the games this season, Lasse Staw, has been phenomenal in these five games.

In fact, I'm surprised he hasn't been linked to us yet

I'd love this to be true and would prefer Foster to any of the other keepers we've been linked to!

Although saying that I wouldn't exactly be heartbroken if we signed Gomes, Kameni or Amelia (or possibly Green who'd be my 2nd choice behind Foster!)

Foster won't come here to be no. 2 mind, he can be that at Man U and also have the chance to challenge to be their no. 1 as Van Der Sar will be retiring soon!

I don't reckon Foster will come tbh...

If he were to come, I'd imagine that he would want to be first choice as he may have had enough of being behind others at Man U. It seems that Robbo will be gone in the summer so it's likely that he'd be signed as our premier keeper. Seems like a good keeper, but he is still young which is always worrying when it comes to this position in the team.

So unlike the ironclad defence Robbo had in front of him.

Watford conceded two more goals than us last season. Obviously, all of ours were Robbo's fault, none of Watford's Fosyer's.

Can't see him leaving United. Fergie has been priming him for years to become VDS' replacement.

I'm sure united think he has great potential but united can go out and buy the best. I think it could be a possibility. I think he would be very good for us.

This is completly random and don't want to start a new thread on it but i just thought wouldn't richard dunn be a quality signing for us. He has 1 year left on his contract and seems to be stalling. A centre back quartet of Woodgate King Dunn and Dawson would be brilliant

Foster. Hmm interesting. No doubt better than Robinson, Paul needs a clean break to rebuild his career. But is Foster better than the other million keepers we have been linked with? I dont know.

I'd have Foster over Green though.

Robbo has conceded many goals this season that he could have prevented and on top of that his command of his area has been abysmal.

Nobody is saying that every goal we've conceded was Robbo's fault and nobody is saying that the Watford defence were responsible for every goal that they conceded that season (obviously Foster made one glaring error).

But from what I've seen of the two goalkeepers Foster is the better shotstopper and the better when the ball comes into his area.
