No, you weren't.

Sorry, but that's rot.

We had just four days to bring off the Moutinho deal. Real left their move for Modric so late that some people were actually beginning to hope that they'd lost interest and he'd still be with us. Porto weren't desperate to sell and wanted absolute top dollar, there were third-party ownership issues, and Moutinho started demanding huge wages. It was pretty remarkable that we came as close as we did.

Rafa went to HSV on deadline day. Dempsey arrived before the Moutinho deal fell through.

Ok, I'll take your word for it then.

I agree.
The league games are more important
We played poorly tonight and I am annoyed but there has to be a perspective. Sure things have to improve.
The team was changed around to try some things that didnt work ( who now wants Chadli to play up front on his own) Tonight nobody took the game by the scruff of the neck which Townsend could have done.
Glad Kaboul made the mistake in this game and not a prem league game

Like playing and inverted 4-2-3-1 with a group of players who can't play 4-2-3-1, then expecting them to win, or even play football...

Without referring to my memory of tonight proceedings, I am just thinking how that is going to turn out

God get into perspective lads. Our second string lost in a close away europa league match. We have already qualified for the second round. Losing 1-0 does not equal the end of our season.
We've played well twice all season and haven't scored a goal in our last 3 football matches. That's perspective

To be fair peoples frustrations are not just about tonight! The whole season has been poor. We lost to an average Besiktas side who were missing 2 strikers. The previous game we was hanging on against Crystal Palace! Folded at Chels (again). So its been another crap 1-2 weeks. Very tough game against Swansea and im not looking forward to Newcastle mid week. At least we have a couple of easy games either side of new year. We'll smash Man Utd and Chelsea :coffee:

It not the fact it is our second string... The players meant fuck all today...

It is undying stubbornness of this club to stick with a formation that doesn't work for us, because it worked for someone else. And as a result of sticking with this 4-2-3-, we looking f-ing awful and we look in control, because we rarely pass the ball forward.

For pooch to play a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.... or even 4-6-0 would show that there has been step forward...............

That is what is pissing people off....
I still cling to the hope that we are doing ourselves good. It is a long time since we have tried as a club to establish a working pattern through the club. It was the reason AVB was appointed but that was carried through due to unrest of mainly fans ( and I was one of them bored by the style of football but thought there was a longer end game)

We cant go and buy a couple of bank busting players , not enough money. Even with Redknapps riches we were falling just short. That the case many pointed at Moyes at Everton who seemed to develop a team not a bunch of star players.

Change is an incredibly difficult think to implement; it takes time. Disciples are needed to promote on and off the field Players ( people) resist change, the have to be nurtured through it, some fall by the way side.

The question is how long will it take Lets a least give this regime a decent amount of time , something I think AVB would have got bar the Citeh fiasco

PS
it doesnt mean I am happy but I am fed up of being the bridesmaid so lets see if something else can work

Surely levy looks at this and says wow we need investment ? Surely he can see we are going nowhere with this team ? No ? Is it just us ?

No
The subs: Soldado was taken off Chadli went up front ( as I said)
Did you want Walker to stay on, Dier was injured Stambouli play RB
Was Townsend better on the left than the right It is easy to get on the back of people. It certainly looked as though we played for a draw something that by qualifying might be important in later rounds Magic doesnt just happen

Why do people always say buying bank busting players.... For the last umpteen years, I don't give a toss about the price of player as long as they are the right player....

We want to play 4-2-3-1, soo lets go and buy players suited too a 4-4-2 formation or 4-3-3.... Even better yet, spend £26 million on a attacking player who should be lining up next to a striker and put him in midfield... he should be nowhere near the midfield.

XXXXXX ----------- Lamela
XXXXXX

That is where Lamela should be playing.... What do we do

XXXXXX

XXXXXX ----- XXXXXX ----- Lamela
or

XXXXXX ---------- XXXXXX

XXXXXX ----- XXXXXX ----- XXXXXX ----- Lamela
And this all down to the commitee and a serious joke of a committee... The club is a joke...

Some of what you say is fine
i dont disagree about the price of players so I didnt say I said it But if you have contributed to the board for any length of time then you will know it has been said
How many windows has Poch had to influence his style with players he wants?
Lamela is not the only issue so your formations require the right supporting players or it does not work either
The club is not a joke

HAHAHA!!

Completely missed the point....

We could have started

Soldado ---------- Young striker

Townsend ----- Dembele ----- Stambouli ----- Lennon

Rose -------- Vlad --------- Kaboul -------- Walker

Vorm
There you go, it's that fucking simple, that simple... It really was... Much much more balanced and suited to the player we had at our disposal.

Every player we buy is always a cheaper version of who we should get? We need to stop trying to get a bargain and buy decent quality? If you go food shopping and want a nice bit of steak you buy the finest as you know it costs more but it will be worth it. We need to stop buying supermarkets own brand steak and trying to get as many different cooks/managers to make it taste as good as the finest because it won't.

We tried for Oscar. Chelsea got him. We tried for Fernandinho. City got him. We almost had Willian. Chelsea gazumped us. We tried for Villa. A very flush Atleti got him. We tried for Mkhitaryan. His manager told him he could do better, and he went to Dortmund. We tried for Musacchio. He didn't want to know. We tried for Schneiderlin. Southampton told us to do one.

Your steak analogy's bollocks, I'm afraid. No-one comes into my butcher as I'm handing over the cash for a choice bit of sirloin or rib eye and says, "I'll pay twice what he's giving you." (Besides, I'm more likely to be be buying shin or ox cheek, because cooked—or coached—properly it tastes at least as good.)

When I say that, I not referring to Spurs the badge.... but rather the clowns that run it... I love Spurs, but I feel that the majority of the people who work there are not fit enough to wear the shirt.

Yes I am full aware of my out burst earlier, but damn was I so angry...

So you put "Young Striker" on and write down on paper in a different formation and the problem solved

90 league clubs want your help

I agree with the anger and the unhappiness but it really isnt that easy running a club
I dont like what is happening but will give it more time before I look at the overall management of the club

Why not?

We had already qualified... We could have gone Coulithirst or Azzaoui, the point of the manager is to use what he has available to his best disposal...

Not pick the poorest formation possible then fit the worst possible players in entirely the wrong positions...

Some times that is all it takes, is to put a little natural balance in the side.

I agree with the anger and the unhappiness but it really isnt that easy running a club

I think the last few years have been enough.

Sorry disagree, pay what the clubs want for their players and get the deals done. What's the point of trying to haggle and paying 15mil for Dembele, 9mil for Capoue and 17mil for Paulinho when you could have brought Moutinho or Pjanic for 30-35mil. 5-10mil less than the other 3 put together and wages on top for that matter, just to replace Modders. In the long run it has cost us more than it should have done and still we are a poorer team? All it shows is the real problem is Levy, thinking he is more clever than anyone else. Respect your opinion as you are right on no one try's to buy your bit of meat for more than you but if you get the deal done then no one has a chance to get there in front of you, this is what I was trying to put across?
