I've been researching this for hours but didn't want to jinx the game by posting before it, but after today's draw, is this the best start since the amazing 1960/61 season. We have 13pts from 6 games, we has 12pts in 11/12, 9/10 and 66/67 (adjusted for 3ppg). I haven't checked every season but I checked those that were successful seasons and nothing beats 12pts in 6. EDIT, poster below found we also had 13pts from 6 games in 02/03, 91/92 and 72/73 (adjusting for 3ppg)

If we draw next week it'll be our third best start and if we lose it'll be our joint 4th best start.

Certainly got to be up there. Better than 2 ppg is good, no matter what.

We're flying considering we are still very much a squad that is still understanding each other. When Rose, Beast II, Lennon & Chadli (properly) come back and Lamela gets in the first XI we're laughing. Then Bobby's still to really come good and Rose will show why AVB didn't want another LB IMO.

If we spend another £10m or so in Jan on LB competition then we can challenge for the top spot providing we suffer no serious injuries. A young striker on top of that and it would be ridiculous work from Baldevy.

Better on goals scored in 91/92. 13 points. For 10 Against 6.

Better in 72/73 on goals scored. 13 points (allowing 3 per win). Scored 8 Conceded 4.

Thanks for that! I didn't check those seasons because they weren't great seasons and I thought the chances that we had a great start in those seasons were small. Still, we've only conceded two goals which is far better than any of those seasons. If we'd won today it would have been our best start, lets see what next week brings

I redid the table and added some of cheesemans suggestions. It's sorted in descending order of most points after 6 games. As you can see, if we win next week it'll be out joint best season, but win the week after and it really will be special.

I only did it 'cause I remember having some super starts even in the "darkest" days when the league season used to be over for us by Christmas. Just shows how good we have it these days, where this kind of run is expected; yet we still get people whining :)

If my memory serves me right we went 11 games in the 60-61 season without losing and the 12th game was a draw. I had a bet with our milkman every week that we would win and on the 12th game I decided not to bet. It helped to pay our milk bill for a few months!
