And while England will lose Arsenal from the Champions League, Italy could lose Milan and Germany Schalke tomorrow. Regardless, what is the an untapped gold mine for England when it comes to the coefficient is the Europa where there are still four clubs. People underestimate it. But Germany used that competition to overtake Italy and it's why Spain is ahead of England now. England still has four sides (Liverpool being in the worse condition with a 2-0 away leg) while Italy has 3 (Napoli lost their home leg 3-0 and Lazio drew Gladbach 3-3) and Germany has 4 (aside from Gladbach, Leverkusen drew 1-1 home to Genk, Hannover lost 3-1 at Anzi and Stuttgart lost 1-0 at home). So there is where England could offset Germany and keep ahead of Italy.

So now England got full points today and have four sides still in Europa. Spain are down to one, Germany are down to one and Italy two (and we can take care of one of them in the next round). With Spain looking surprisingly in bad shape, I think we could see them come as low as 4th this year with England actually catching them a little.

I'd rate them First - Barca are too one dimensional, and with Guardiola gone they're looking even more devoid of ideas - soundly beaten by Milan.

I think it about time we start aiming for third. Being that this season is transition with all the new additions we've done well so far and I hope we can finish strong in the league oh and win the europa cup.

Not sure I would go as far as to say Bayern define well oiled German machinery.

Back in May they were an embarrassment, I hope they get battered in the next round.
