Cleverley for free as a squad option isn't terrible business for Everton given their aging squad, but if I were them I'd rather buy up a promising youngster.

Not a Cleverley thread but maybe he's heard there will be a certain central midfield berth available at Everton?....;)

Haha I doubt it. Between Mason's advent, us looking to bring Carroll back in the summer, and now Alli, I doubt we'd be genuinely interested in McCarthy.

You pinning all your hopes on those 3 for now? I like your optimism - but from what I've seen Mason can pick up the little injuries through his playing style and Carroll who can't absolutely command a starting place every week and an untried 18/19 year old will lead us to the promised land? I hope I'm wrong but I'm sure we'll want to pick up a strong leader - a Parker type figure and McCarthy can be that.

Pinning my hopes? No, but that's IMO what I see as the most likely outcome. If I were in charge, I'd have seen us move for Clasie or if we wanted a promising youth, Bishop over Alli. I think we desperately lack a dynamic playmaker in the middle of the pitch, and tbh I'm not a big fan of Poch's double pivot central midfield who are supposed to prioritize maintaining shape over moving forward. So no, I'd prefer something different but I'm referring to what seems to be the realistic situation over my own hopes. Tbf though, I think it's pretty difficult to distinguish between hopes and tangible reality discussion in the transfer subform.

SSN reporting that Leicester want Capoue too, started asking about him last week apparently. They also want Azza.

Sky is reporting that Leicester made an approach for Capoue on loan LAST WEEK but think wages are the stumbling block...

"In the last 25 minutes, Sky Bet have seen a lot of money on Etienne Capoue to move to West Brom. The Tottenham defender is now 1/4 to sign for the Baggies before the window shuts this evening, and 7/2 to stay at White Hart Lane. "
