For what it's worth guys and gals, I have watched Capoue on many occasions, and first mentioned him on hear 4 years ago.

Here is a link to the posts I have made re Capoue over this period:

To summarise; For most of his career at Toulouse since coming into the side aged about 20/21 he has been used as the DM/playmaker type. He plays in front of the back four in a 4141, Often winning the ball looking to play a pass that sets an attack in motion. Even when not finding a attacking pass, he still passes the ball economically, uses both feet comfortably and has the good range of pass (short, long, medium). Toulouse try to play a passing, fluid game (with the four ahead of him frequently interchanging roles), so possession and pass and move is part of Capoue's DNA. He was often at the hub of it for Toulouse. His passing/vision isn't Pirlo-esque quality, player he most reminds me of is Carrick really. Or the player people wish Hudd could be. Less floaty hopeful nearly diagonals, more verve, drive and involvement, with decent range of passing.(But to caveat, this is in Ligue 1 remember)

He can look lethargic sometimes, this is partly due to his style. I have certainly rarely seen him look flustered, and this season after just about everyone who's any good has been sold off at Toulouse he looked a bit disinterested at times. After Sissoko left (with Toulouse doing well in the league up to Jan) Casanova started fucking around with the formation and moved Capoue up the pitch more. As a result he scored more, but was less effective I think. He is not as slow as people like Dawson or Hudd though. He is not lazy.

It's really hard to tell if a player playing this type of position/role in the much softer french league will adjust to the robustness and tempo of the EPL. Ability wise he's good enough though. Great technique, reasonable vision, reasonably tenacious. He's a pretty good reader of the game, is more mobile than Hudd and is happy to get a foot in and win the ball.

I genuinely think in a side as good as ours with AVB in charge, used in the correct system he could be a real asset, but only if he can adjust to the tempo. In France he often had more time and less pressure than many teams will give him in the EPL.

He needs to play centrally, ideally in a 433 or a 4231. Not right or left in the 3.

Seems strange that transfers carried out at 5 minutes before transfer deadline are actioned/completed within a very short time and those started days/weeks before the deadline take forever.
