On the right underneath the CC story, there is an audio clip of what he said.

First time he says he will start, then at the end he finishes by saying he has 'every chance'.

So a bit unclear, but i expect him to start.

talksport are saying he can't be match fit as he has only played 20 odd games in the last 4 years - have they got a point?

Fitness isn't as much of an issue with goalkeepers, I would say his match sharpness, reflexes etc might not be what it could be.

cheers Goldman :) it's pretty clear to me now he's eligible

though complete clarification is always nice

but I tend not to expect that from Spurs :)

maybe HR was just being cautious (for once :)

we have no real option but to play him if Gomes isn't fit

anyone who thinks that a keeper of the physique of Alnwick (and the lack of outstanding talent to compensate for that) should start re a team like Stoke ... well it's all about opinions and mine is alnwick should not be playing tomorrow - not a chance unless cudicini isn't eligible or is injured

couldn't agree more BB - it's been one of the many lunacies re the goalkeeping situation over the past couple of years that I've been absolutely going ballistic about

I'd have been ok seeing fulop in goal v stoke - alnwick never (ditto bolton)

I know thre were complicating factors why fulop left - but boy have we screwed up re this position for a while now

this is the first time I've felt relatively calm over the keeper situ since Robbo was playing well and we had CErny as decent back up

Gomes cudicini janssonn, now that looks right to me

Delighted with this signing. By the looks of the way he played last season against us in the 4-4 game at the Lane, which I think was his first game for a while, his relfexes should be ok.

Not nuts at all.

Fulop not only failed to displace Sunderland's then first-choice keeper, he couldn't get on the bench and was loaned out. The difference is that Fulop's developed over the past two years to the extent that Gordon could have problems getting his place back, but Alnwick hasn't.

You win some, you lose some. It's only a mistake with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight.

I think it was a mistake if any foresight was used. I could have smelt it and I'm not football coach, so I don't see why the club didn't. I never saw Alnwick play, but I had seen Fulop play on more than one occasion, including once in a friendly v Porto, and apart from being massive, he was athletic, commanding, imposing, and damn right scary looking for any strikers running at him. He also did everything with the utmost confidence. He was a real find and I was shocked when they allowed him to leave.
