Dortmund first half we were absolutely terrible mate, they ripped us apart but couldn't score. I can't remember the last 90 minute perfect performance we put in like Liverpool did last night with those energy levels.

We could definitely beat them in a one off game but its unlikely based on their team, players and form and ours. They are better in attack and defence. Regardless, they are in a much better place than we are this season. Their squad looks strong throughout. Their best players are young and committed. Our best players are at the end of their careers (Verts) or leaving (Toby, Eriksen) and our full backs are pony, their's are showing world class performances.

I'm not even looking at this season, but over the next 3 or 4 seasons, Liverpool seem well set, whereas we need to go out and buy top replacements in a number of positions to replace the best players I listed above. For two transfer windows, we failed to do anything and now we are quite far behind them, when just a season or two ago we were ahead.

Still, in a one off game anything can happen, if we get there.

We weren't terrible against Dortmund in that 1st half, stop the extremes, they didn't rip us apart they had one shot which was a header where the keeper saved comfortably, I don't have a problem with you saying they are better than us I'm just saying the gap isn't as wide as you make it out to be.

I do t want to take anything away from Liverpool as it was an amazing performance by them and they deservedly went through. I also think that if we had done that the majority of Liverpool fans would be full of praise too.

Having said that, that result was a total freak IMO. If that game was played 100 times you’d only see them go through once, imo. Again, not to take anything away from them, they deserved it and results like that are part of the reason we all love this crazy game. Prior to the semis I thought we stood a better chance of beating Liverpool in a final and whilst that belief had been somewhat shaken after last night I still think we’d have a better chance against the scouse than Barca. Finals are a totally different kettle of fish and Barca have a wealth of experience of knowing what it takes to get over the line. Klopp hasn’t exactly got a great record in finals either. Most of all i still maintain that the fact the players know each other inside out is a big plus for us too.

Anyway, we face an uphill battle of our own

I don't think that was a freak, Barca as a team are overrated been saying that for ages and it shows how far off they are when they get spanked by Liverpool without two of their best players.

They've lost one game all season, we've lost 13. We are as close to Crystal Palace in the league as we are to Liverpool. The gap is massive.

There's a load of mitigating circumstances I touched on yesterday that you're choosing to ignore though.

Whether Barca are overrated or not over turning a 3-0 deficit in the first leg is incredible. If they played that game 100 times do you think they go through to the final what, 20,30,40 times? I don’t see it. We’ll never know though I guess. Maybe I’m giving Barca to much credit and not enough to Liverpool I just think 9 times out of 10 Barca get a goal and it’s game over.

Roma did it to them last season and Roma aren't that great. Barca are really one paced and over rely on one player, TBH they should have wrapped it up in the 1st leg.

The thing is were not high enough to get a decent pot for next season. Sooner or later were going to hit a nightmare group stage draw. So while we're in the semi-final this year. We need to make it count. Like leicester when things open up for you, you have to take the chance. Its a half-open door, sissoko needs to barge it open and charge through.

We've had them 2 seasons in a row.

Good travel tip on Sky....(after we've qualified (y)) Check out flights to Alicante or Barcelona....then a high speed train trip to Madrid. Probably Barcelona best....can't see anywhere being too busy there that night....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Flights direct to Madrid will be ridiculous prices.

COYS !! Let's do it ......

They will all snap up the flights last night and today aswell!

That's the thing that pisses me off somewhat.

I understand that it's all about UEFA and the money. But I believe the semi's should both be played on the same day at the same time.

Look at the state of it, two teams from the same country could well meet in the final. However, Liverpool fans have been in a position to purchase all the flight tickets 24 hours prior to Spurs fans if we were to go through tonight.

How many flights fully booked, prices driven up etc, etc. Scouse fans all sorted, and at a reasonable price no doubt. Spurs fans could be left with either extortionate cost for a flight, or maybe not even able to secure one.

End result, thousands of Scourse fans present in Madrid, not as many Spurs fans as a result of aforementioned reasons above. Thus giving the team who played 24 hours earlier an advantage in the final through fan support.

Of course this only applies when two teams from the same country could possibly reach the final.

Liverpool, advantage...who'd have thought.

Had a look this morning and there are basically no flights from the UK to Madrid left, except for extortionate money. Given 50k scousers bought one last night

Even from London? Then again, the majority of them seem to live down here rather than Merseyside #supportyourlocalteam

Guys can we get through before discussing how we're going to lose in the final please

Sorry but I have to re-iterate this post - far too many people getting carried away discussing flights for my liking.

Give some respect to Ajax!

Agree. Let’s go all out and try to beat Ajax. If we do, then no matter what happens in the final, we would already be creating history by playing in it and if we beat them in the final, our story would be much bigger than theirs because of all the hurdles that we had to face throughout the season.

Let it happen.

COYS
No one would talk about it after 2 day. Whereas they would all talk about it for 50 years if Liverpool wins the final. But we have to get past Ajax first. The team should lay it all on the line today
