The thing is were not high enough to get a decent pot for next season. Sooner or later were going to hit a nightmare group stage draw. So while we're in the semi-final this year. We need to make it count. Like leicester when things open up for you, you have to take the chance. Its a half-open door, sissoko needs to barge it open and charge through.
Please see last year where we managed to win the group. Our group stages have been tough 2 years in a row. Last year we had the group of death. 3 years ago we had an easier group and didnt go through

Sorry but I have to re-iterate this post - far too many people getting carried away discussing flights for my liking.

Give some respect to Ajax!

I bet the Ajax fans are having the exact same discussion. It's not about disrespecting Ajax. it's just that the final in Madrid became so much more real now when we know who'd we be facing.

"Carried away discussing flights'.....good one (y)
There is a huge difference between showing respect and trying to maintain a 'confident air'. I have the utmost admiration for them as a football team and would never underestimate them. I also fully realise the size of the task that lies ahead of us....but let me dream....
It's not disrespectful to talk about flights....it's our way of light heartedly handling the situation which at the moment is a pressure cooker of emotion.

That's the thing that pisses me off somewhat.

I understand that it's all about UEFA and the money. But I believe the semi's should both be played on the same day at the same time.

Look at the state of it, two teams from the same country could well meet in the final. However, Liverpool fans have been in a position to purchase all the flight tickets 24 hours prior to Spurs fans if we were to go through tonight.

How many flights fully booked, prices driven up etc, etc. Scouse fans all sorted, and at a reasonable price no doubt. Spurs fans could be left with either extortionate cost for a flight, or maybe not even able to secure one.

End result, thousands of Scourse fans present in Madrid, not as many Spurs fans as a result of aforementioned reasons above. Thus giving the team who played 24 hours earlier an advantage in the final through fan support.

Of course this only applies when two teams from the same country could possibly reach the final.

Liverpool, advantage...who'd have thought.

UEFA don't give a shit about fans, two matches on different days for them is more exposure therefore more revenue.

I don't think anyone is assuming we're going to get through here. This is just a hypothetical discussion where Liverpool getting through has basically taken any opportunity of going to the final away from us, in the off chance we get there. It's a disgraceful situation and I think the main reason we're having it now is cos a lot of us think we won't have the chance to have it tomorrow, completely contrary to presuming we're already in the final.

Spot feckin on.

I too will reiterate.

I think the semi's should be played on the same day at the same time. Thus allowing both sets of fans an equal opportunity cost and travel wise to get to the final when the final is between two teams from the same country.

Makes total common sense....which is probably why UEFA don't adopt the plan.

As already stated by myself and @Shadydan tis' all about the money and exposure. Fans often seem to be a secondary thought when UEFA involved.

Who are these "fans" you talk about? We at UEFA & FIFA only have "consumers" and we provide them the content, for a fee. If you can't afford the fee then you buy the cheaper package. That is economics. And following the laws of economics, as we have a monopoly we shall set the price & the rules of content consumption. If fact, if the game isn't entertaining enough, we'll make it so with draws pitting old rivals against each other, keeping top teams away from each other until the end games, and even adding dramas of our own like new technologies etc...

Like a olden day priest, ushering in the congregation, the ref will gather all the consumers into the stadia, and control their emotions and time with his whistle and waves of his hands. The outcome lies in the best entertainment vale

I was reading articles in www.sport.es and I am pretty sure heads will be rolling soon... Couthino is "slaughtered". And so is Rakitic and Jordi Alba (who literally slept when they scored the 4th goal on that corner - which was brilliantly spotted by Alexander-Arnold).

BBC has a Sarri news conference, nothing about spurs on the main page.
Four stories on on Liverpool, two on Chelsea one on Barcelona, the England women's team, Leicester, Bolton, two Russions and a Dutchman before a Spurs piece, the thirteenth story and it is that Poch is leaving, if only we were doing something important today I'm sure they'd have mentioned it.

Alexander-Arnold owned Jorda Alba last night, Alba didn't get past him once and didn't even get a pass beyong him but it's a bit mean to single any single player out as they were strolling around like they were already in the final and didn't need to turn up, no urgency whatsoever.

BBC are fucking loving it. As you say, barely a mention of us on their sites/text.

Jeremy 'the worlds most boring ****' Vine even had a special segment for them in his show this afternoon. The question to encourage Scouse fans to call in was, "Are Liverpool the only club that could have achieved what happened last night".

It was fucking sickening.

Then every news bulletin had interviews with Klopp, playing the commentary for each goal, the crowd singing etc etc etc.

I have radio 2 on all day in my van & didn't hear Spurs mentioned until Steve Wrights show came on at 2pm, and then we were only mentioned because he was saying what's on TV tonight.

The sad thing is, if we win tonight, I know full well that we're still only likely to get a passing mention while the press etc concentrate on Liverpool's amazing achievement & their title chase. Man City won't get a mention either. It's all fucking Liverpool, Liverpool, Liverpool.

Its our turn. The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.

Thats nice...although to be fair i'd settle for the win.

I imagine both arse and chelscum will go to europa finals and, if so, how much of an advert is it for the English game that both finals will be made up solely of English teams?
