Remember we're in our first season in the champions league, with a team mixed with young players, real talents and experienced players. But the point of this thread is ultimately this, our team here, is similar to the team that Manchester United had in 1994, they had Ryan Giggs we have Gareth Bale. They had Roy Keane, we have Sandro. They had Paul Scholes, we have Tom Huddlestone, they had Eric Cantona, we have Luke Modric/Rafa.

But here's the thing, this team was quite new together, the youth had come through and it'd mixed with the experienced players. But as this team was quite new to the champions league, and were pitted against one of the best teams in the world, ultimately this happened.

But did this team implode? No. Did this team give up the fight? No, they kept going and gelled together and become one of the best teams in modern football.

OK, we might not have the history or the allure that they have, but we're getting there, we're a European prototype. This team which had the likes of Scholes, Keane and Ryan Giggs went on to win one of the biggest and greatest finals five years later and did the treble.

I'm not saying I'm expecting us to be one of the best teams in the world immedialty but I'm saying we're comparable to that team, we can become a force in the league and europe.

They got smashed by Barcelona one of the best teams in the world at the time, with the likes of Stoitckov, Romario, Ronald Koeman, Jordi Cruff, Pep Guardiola, Hagi.

OK, I know I'm bleating on a bit here but the point is, we have to learn from experiences like this, keep the team together, keep building and maybe we can one day achieve the same honours.
