If you look at the Premier League season as a whole we have not been great a lot of the time. Yes we have ground out many results and that can be taken 2 ways. Either we have a never say die attitude and just don't give up or we have been getting away with it. Right now it feels like we have been getting away with it as results are going against us. However you cannot have so many players in certain positions underperform consistently and think that eventually it won't catch up with you.

Trippier has been poor all season.
Eriksen over the last few months looks like a shadow of the player he is.
Davies is average..no disrespect as average is often constituted as steady..take it as you will.
Lamela has been all over the place for quite a while and not in a good way.
Moura has been a massive let down recently.
Kane has looked like he is running on empty for god knows how long injury or not..the fact he is world class means he still performs.

The list could go on and on in terms of positions just not producing or players being missing due to injury ... but just on todays peformance that's half your team not at the races which means you get what you deserve which is a loss.

If we manage to finish in the top 4 this season it will be an incredible achievement based on how we have actually performed within games and that we have been at Wembley again. However that will only serve to cover up the fact that we need significant investment in the Squad and we have all seen that Levy and significant investment are not words that go hand in hand when it comes to players and/or wages.

This is a seminal moment in this squads existence. Keep the core of this squad paying market rate wages to Eriksen/Aldeweireld/Vertonghen/Son to ensure they stay. Then address the RB/LB/CM and back up striker positions in the Summer and we have the ability in a new stadium to challenge at the top level. Easier said than done but its there and in touching distance if only Levy and Co have the desire to make it happen. Sadly that means money and lots of it ,as money talks more than ever in the Premier League. I am not sure Levy has the stomach for a balls deep transfer/wage policy but I will enjoy being proven wrong should it materialize.

It will be a tragedy if this core group of players wins nothing and slowly disperses to other clubs.

Definitely Trippiers fault. He's calling for the goal keeper to come out, then shits himself, kicks the ball, without looking up to whether Lloris is coming out, and just passes it past him when. He would have cleaned it up.

Trippier has and will continue to be a liability defensively, he's making bad/ridiculous decisions in every game he plays.

The first rule of thumb is that you don’t play a backpass inside the width of the posts. That way worse case scenario is a corner.

@Cambridge Spur has made 21 posts so far on SC and I feel like I've Agreed or Winnered every single one of them. Fella, if you want to come over and have a beer in the clubhouse with me, @Spurrific and @E17yid then there's a space going now that @Amo's not talking to me any more.

Thanks bud, it’s funny how a couple of defeats brings us all out of the woodwork....it’s almost like we enjoy losing ?

We have finished 3, 2, 3 in the last three seasons. Spurs best and most consistent since 1961.

We haven't just competed in the Champions League but gone deep beating some of Europe's elite.

We are still 3rd and still in the Champion's league this season.

But you are "fed up".

Yes... you are very entitled indeed.

Ffs.

We are in big trouble now.

Now is the time to SUPPORT.

Fucking hell...
@Phomesy I usually find myself generally in agreement with the things you say. In this instance, you're not wrong, but you're not 100% right either.

What you say has a lot of validity. We should be looking at the overall picture. And you're also right that the club needs to be supported. Where I think you fall down is in having a set definition of what support looks like and not accepting that anything that deviates from that is as valid as yours.

If someone feels fed up, then it's perfectly valid for you to remind them that progress has been made. At the same time, however, whoever is saying they are fed up may have a different perspective on things than you. It doesn't mean that they don't support the club and calling them entitled is a little harsh.

Likewise, @jolegend I don't agree with much of what you're saying but I know why you might be saying it. I too am fed up with losing to Chelsea so many times in my lifetime. It's not that long ago that Chelsea fans used to call our home 'Three Points Lane'. At least that doesn't happen anymore. And the progress we have made is still something to be positive about.

I think we all need to cool our jets a little and maybe sympathise with each other a little more. Whatever we may think of how things transpired tonight, there's no denying the pain of it and we could all do with being a little kinder to each other. All of us.

How frustrating was Son tonight? His touch was terrible. Every touch was a 5 yard pass in front of him to a Chelsea player.

Fuck sake.

Don't you just hate it on here when you write something on here about mentality & guts against Dortmund then you see this all unravel against Burnley and what you think is going to be a downcast Chelski. Wtf has happened Kane our supposed saviour comes back and we look ordinary again! The mind the gap fears begin to resurface big time 10 pts above the scum is being eroded yet again and with a born again Utd in the hunt this match on Saturday could see the turning point get even worse by them being one bloody point behind! Our team were seriously lacking tonight and it harked back to bad times not one of our players stood up to be counted makes you angry just seeing it.

As for Tripper I always couldn't understand the abuse he receives on here but that tonight enlightened me as to why! 10 years Poch says for us win the league (what if any other manager says this!?!) so doesn't that mean all the other teams around us work on a shoestring or go bankrupt!?! The latter for Chelski I would gladly enjoy but somehow the reality gets in the way and all the others get stronger while we scramble around clutching at straws by looking to the academy or swooping on a bargain. PL winners they talked about us in the running now we as supporters know that the reality was to stay in the top 4 please for f sake don't let us down otherwise we as supporters all have to manage the embarrassment dare I say again!!!

If our squad gets upset about the best striker in the country being put straight back in the team then that speaks volumes about the so called ‘mentality’ of our players. The players should have been thinking ‘we’re in a title race and our best fucking player is back! We’re going to fucking destroy them all!’ Not ‘oh Harry’s back, what if he upsets our balance?’ Bollocks! Kane is the ultimate professional, if our other players had half of his grit and determination then we would certainly be winning trophies.
No buddy the manager should of also and he hasn’t it works both ways. Kane is absolute class but he should of started on the bench sat. Like I said it’s strange the the energy levels have dropped in the last two games since that decision was made. Not one shot on target tonight first time since 2013 that says it all, Poch has cost us sat against Burnley and his team selection wasn’t great tonight.

Yep you’re right.

I am as fucked off as anyone but I just react when people use a few bad results to slag off years of progression. I get that improvement incites expectation but Spurs of old wouldn’t have got through the champions league group stage let alone gone 3 up against a flying Dortmund.

After United I thought we would finish 5th. And that would be shite but understandable given our injuries and Wembley etc.

So I’m incredibly proud of the team for the last two months. Don’t understand why others aren’t.

Have you been reading these posts? Apparently we're utterly shit. Have no heart. No desire. Don't care. No guts. Complete legends.

It's an accurate description of many of our supporters. Not an accurate description of this Pochettino side.

Being a shit **** supporter who jumps off at the first sign of trouble is NOT a sign of "passion". It's fucking gutless spineless "support".

Serious question: did you actually watch the last two games? If that was us showing guts and fighting to the last, then we are in big trouble.

Chelsea had to win tonight and they did. As the home team against a top 6 club you have to win really. We beat them at home and they beat us. We lost away against Arsenal so must win the home game. Utd made up for losing at home to us by winning at our place. So we have to somehow try to make up for losing at home to City and Liverpool when we go away. That's where I think we'll fall short but that separates City and Liverpool from us.

We're still 3rd, the title chase is over. Not that I ever felt we would win anyway. However, what the title chase does is keep you excited. It's always more exciting chasing a higher position than holding onto one. I'm not sure how much I can enjoy the rest of the season now. It will just be a tense finish knowing we have to hold on. At least we have our destiny in our own hands. It hasn't helped having such a lead over 4th-6th place as we did. Although it always felt too good to be true having such a lead over Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea.

I'm dreading the Arsenal game now. Not sure I'm happy to be going to that one. Win and create a 7 point lead and we're in a good position still. Any less and we're in for a fight with all the pressure on us. If we fail to make top 4 now it will be our biggest capitulation yet. Finish 3rd however and it's another solid season. That's how close it is. As far as the league goes I can only get excited about moving into the stadium. Everything is going to be too tense to enjoy from now on in.

At least the Champions League gives an exciting distraction but even that game next week is not the best either. Nobody will expect Dortmund to win so they will play with no pressure. For us we have to finish the job and not throw it away. That just sums up our situation now really. We're in a good position but we've been in a good position for a while now. It just makes it less enjoyable as a fan because you know anything less than 3rd is a fuck up given the position we had.

We have been in massive trouble since United. You seem to want to shit on everything the squads done between then and the last two fucking games.

Which makes you a really fucking shit supporter.

Get it?

I agree with a lot of what you say but it does seem a bit warped. Maybe its your coping mechanism just like melting down is for others.

I like to try and keep calm and see the positives but we just went down to Chelsea with barely a whimper. Chelsea of all teams. A Chelsea that should have been there for the taking all things considered.

It's one of the most frustrating games I can remember under Poch. I still love Poch and this team, but that was an utter shitshow. Poch himself admits it was poor. That's rare and says it all. Criticism is valid.

Poch and the boys have done an incredible job again this season no doubt. Luckily they have a chance of redemption for tonight very soon. Beat Arsenal and this is forgotten. COYS.

I'm sure there are plenty who are. I'm proud of them. They've come so far.

It's the whole words spoken in anger thing. We all vent in our own way.
