Cheltenham Festival Competition. 2010.

As a mad follower of NH racing I can't resist posting a few of my Cheltenham fancies at the mo' ...............

In the R.S.A I'm a big fan of the 3-1 jolly Punchestown, but the real value is Pandorama @ 14-1@ Hills.

In the Supreme I'm on @ 12-1 but generally 10-1 now on Oscar Whiskey.

In the Neptune I like Peddlers Cross now @ 12-1 @Hills

The Ryanair Tranquil Sea @13-2 looks value

And Tidal Bay has a massive chance in the World Hurdle @ 8-1

For those in the know you'll notice i've avoided the races where Paul Nicholls/Ruby Walsh has a odds on Fav' as i'm loathe to oppose the duo who've made me lots of money this year & in previous seasons.

But I guarentee that 1 if not 2 out of the big 3 Nicholls stable ( Master Minded, Kauto Star & Big Bucks) will get turned over, and you can quote me on March 20th.

Can only summise that you believe these three will all go in....... are you sure???? You don't see any of these getting turned over????

I'm suprised that someone who seems to be reasonably astute in NH racing & has a decent knowledge of the Festival, would ignore the history/trends & assume that those three are home & hosed....

We all know that the real value dissapears when the bookies start offering NRNB around the 5 day mark, i've a few ante-post bets ( and still kicking myself with the ones I missed ) you on anything early??

I was tempted to put up some of my selections, but until i know what the going is, and what horses will stay in what races, i will hold back! :wink:

Hou'.... can I call you Hou' ??? With you adding my prediction to your sig' I assumed (rightly or wrongly) you felt that it was a rash statement, which you disagreed with????

Re: the going, can you see anything other than Gd/Soft on the opening day???? Claisse has always favoured that type of ground, and short or 16 days of torrential rain thats what it will be.

For me Diamond Harry isn't fluent enough over fences to beat Punchestown & is underpriced compered to Pandorama.

I don't disagree with your statement at all, Shel, nor do i call it rash...it's your opinion, and i agree that none of the so called talking horses are invincible, if they were, then Zaynar would have won by 25 lengths last time out, and the last 10 + odds on shots (that were napped and NBd by tipsters) over the last 3 days would have won!
The going could be anything..:shrug: we have an awful lot of rain coming and an extended cold spell forecast after that, so, snow is not out of the picture either!
I'll know, more or less, what i will be betting on early next week, once a few more have been withdrawn etc....
There are excuses for Punjabi (should it lose today's race at Kempton) already, but it's the same excuses as last year, and it went on to win the CH!

Don't think the ground will be a factor TBH....but we all have our own opinion mate.......

Getting close now

This period (1-2 weeks to go) is the best period to make some selections with confidence and get value into the bargain.......

The weights have been announced for the handicaps, all the prep' races have been run, bookies are offering NRNB & most trainers have given indications of which races their horses will run (apart from mullins etc as always)
