For those interested, at 2:30 PM EST on ESPN3.com Ajax' match will be airing live.

Great chance to watch Eriksen as well as Alderweireld.

He's been pretty bad (today) to be quite honest. Just missed a great opportunity. He does make himself available to his teammates which is a great trait, but the inconsistencies are still there.

I have to put this transfer probability in the realms of Falco. Eriksen would walk into any team in the EPL, will take more than Vertoghen to get him to sign for us.

No he would not. Being Danish I watch most of the games he's playing. This kid is so overrated! In the way we are playing we need our no 10 to be able to score goals van der Vaart'ish - Eriksen doesn't. This is an issue the Danish media constantly pinpoint when foreigners praise him as a new wonderkid.

Overated, yes, though not the most...
Overpriced, yes and that is the key factor... He is not and might never be worth the 20m being banded about and he is not consistent enough to warrant that kinda outlay. 20m for Eriksen or 25m for Moutinho... ignore the possibilities of the signings, just ask yourself who you would rather buy at those quoted prices?!

15 million pounds/20 million euros seems to be the Eriksen price everyone is talking about

Yeah, due to his contract situation I can't see anyway that he will go for more than £15m. Any suggestions of more than that can only be down to paper talk and posturing on Ajax's part.

Most likely scenario would be that he leaves in the summer for somewhere around the £12m mark. Unless he has a storming second half of the season Ajax won't manage to inflate a bidding war much beyond that amount for a player who could leave for free 12 months after that. Look at how much we paid them for Vertonghen, and he was the Eredivisie player of the season.

Eriksen has said that he doesn't consider himself ready for a big move and wants to perfect his game before stepping up to a big league, just like Vertonghen did. He said something along the line of "perfecting" his game.

That's, to me, a pretty sound way of looking at it, but at the same time the buying club will have to pay more due to his quality if he develops as he could, compared to the prize for his potential.

We'd be a perfect stepping stone then.

I would be disappointed if we paid a penny over 10m for him. He is not the immediate answer, and he represents extremely poor value at this point in time.

I would rather we give a player like Mason a chance first before we sign Eriksen, strange that we have Sig and Dempsey and we are looking at Eriksen. If we're not going to give the youngsters a chance then get Will Hughes as he looked brilliant last weekend and he surprised me with his dribbling and his shooting

And quite honestly that's a pretty fair deal for both sides. It's a marginal gamble if he never really turns into a consistent performer for the buying team. And as it stands right now, Eriksen in my mind is worth about 15m to Ajax. He's a good, not great player that has honestly grown out of Ajax considering he's deemed himself just about ready for a bigger league.

I honestly see him going to either Liverpool or us. Arsenal might make sense, but I think they will be looking for other things. And I think Man City/United will be going for the more expensive, more proven players.

Totally, totally agree with you beats.

We've also got Pritchard who is only a year younger than Eriksen at 19. I think Pritch is a perfect, perfect, perfect fit behind the striker pulling strings, getting into that final third and either using his (from all estimations and from what I've seen) strong finishing ability and also his eye for the assist.

If Eriksen really isn't an option until the summer, I think the 2nd half of the season should be used to really find out what we have in the youth ranks, and how far away they are from contributing, before dropping 15-20m on a guy who is a gamble, and might not be that big of an upgrade over our home-grown talent in the long run. 20 minute cameos in league matches to start (against weaker opposition with the score generously in our favor) and also in some of the early FA Cup ties. Work them in, get them some small time to really get the feel for it, and then go from there once they get a few matches under their belts.

We have to cover all of our bases and I think getting some of the young guys some exposure would really be a big part of that.

I have to agree Beats. for the amount we would pay out i think he would not be worth it. In that position we already have Dempsey, Siggy & Ade. The first two are showing signs of being settled.

Below that we have Mason, who i think could push into the team like Carroll, we have Falque, Ceballos and Pritchard. Between all of the kids we could save ourselves 15m.

I don't think we'd buy Eriksen to be a #10 as much as part of a 433 three man midfield. In that context it is clearly a position we are very shallow at.

Funny because most people at the club have said he is the most talented player we have had in academy in a very long time even Caulker has said he is the best kid at spurs to agrdavidsfan, most of the noise coming out of the club has always been he is the real deal
