I'm not saying Eriksen isn't decent. But I just don't think he's what we need. He's nowhere near as good quality as Lamela or Willian

Think you're a couple of weeks late with that opinion mate. Back then Eriksen wasn't all that and was no better than Siggy. Now we're on the verge of signing him he's the best thing since sliced Jesus. Such is the nature of football fandom, you have to roll with the punches or you go insane. At the end of last season I was convinced that the fate of Tottenham Hotspur was dependent on Bale staying for another year, but now we've got Lamela I'm really not arsed about him and am as excited about the future of Spurs as I've ever been.

This guy would be an amazing signing.

His star has fallen slightly over the past 18 months but I put that down more to the wonderkid hype bullshit quietening down.

He is a serious player for a 21 year old. The technique, weight of pass and touch he has are all very, very lovely.

Also, we're shit at corners and free kicks right? Well, we won't be anymore if this kid comes in.

Really hope we can do the deal. Perfect number 10 for us.

Oh, and check out the Tweet from Opta Joe earlier this evening... ;)

Namely this Tweet from Opta Joe:

@OptaJoe: 138 - The 138 chances that Eriksen created in the Eredivisie last season were more than any player in the top 5 European leagues. Pedigree.

I think we could see -

Paulinho Capoue Eriksen
Lamela Soldado Chadli

We could. We have so many options now it's scary. I think I'd go:

Paulinho Sandro Holtby

Lamela Soldado Eriksen

But i'd genuinly be equally as excited to see any lineup we can put out with our current group of players. Our bench is going to look unbelievable.

I just want to actually see some football. Sig, Holtby, this guy...whatever.I cannot see all 3 though. At the last game we had loads of great ball and destructive players but nobody was making the runs onto passes behind the defence except Soldado and he was marked out the game pretty much. Right midfield without Lennon limited options and put emphasis on Townsend to unlock the door by dribbling. Limited supply is still a problem. Has this guy got buckets of pace?

Thinking about it I think you may be right and Eriksen would play as a wide forward. That would leave our LB a little bit exposed but hopefully we can get a quality one in the last few days of the window (hopefully Coentrao). But Eriksen imo after seeing a bit more of him (admittedly on youtube), looks like he could play as a left forward. Seems like he is good with either foot but predominantly right footed, can beat players with pace and skill, and can pass, cross, and shoot. I like the idea of having the creative, dangerous players in the front 3 with an extremely solid midfield behind (though to be fair most of our midfield players can play as well, especially Paulinho).

Still my favorite highlight vid of him, as it really shows how multi-threat and two-footed he is

It shows his goal scoring ability, which is a key asset to being a creative player (since if you aren't a goal threat opposition defenders can stand off a little bit and instead plug the gaps and stop the through balls. If you can shoot from distance then they have to try to close you down which opens those pockets of space to play into). However I prefer some of the other videos where you can see his vision and passing ability. He may chip in with 10 goals a season but he's going to make Soldado twice the threat he's been in the opening couple of games.

Last year our downfall was the fact that we dropped a ton of points to the relegation fodder that came to WHL and parked the bus. If we can get Eriksen across the line we'll have the option of going with the following midfield 3 in those situations:

----Capoue----Holtby----
----------Eriksen----------

In terms of creativity, that would be the diametric opposite of what we put out on the pitch last year. All three arguably have more incisive passes in them than did any of our midfield regulars last season. Capoue has been tremendous at shielding the defense in the early going of this season and Holtby is a fairly strong tackler himself, so while it is our most attacking midfield it would still be pretty solid. You could also put Eriksen on the left if you didn't want to drop Paulinho. I'm salivating at the thought.

If our three amigos (Levy, Franco and Andre) tie this deal up as well as those already made, giving us a transfer window that included the incomings of;
paulinho, chadli, soldier, capou, lamela, chiriches AND erikson
The OS needs to release a signed merch range with the 3 amigos signatures instead of the players!!!
IMO these 3 get the MVP awards absolutely stellar work, lose Bale and still manage to take our squad to the next level, all whilst staying within FFP, in a workable salary structure and, at least seemingly, without any detrimental effect to our stadium plans.
We all give joe and levy a hard time now and then but in the last few years especially they have done wonders with our club.

May have already been posted but a Liverpool fan has kindly put together a video summary of his key movements against Man City in both legs in the CL.

http://touch.dailymotion.com/video/xyl40q

It shows he does have the ability to play some quality football but doesn't look heavily involved to me across the course of the match and needs to learn to 'dominate' games more if he is going to become our number ten. For the price he is worth a shot but still areas of his game to refine.

I think there is no need to argue about his quality anymore.... in all the Ajax games I had seen, Eriksen and De Jong are the heart beat..... while watching Siggy, he was peripheral fig....lost in the game.

Not much time and target so pls wrap this up!

I like that a lot.
I mean I was already more than ecstatic re: the potential starting XI down below.
Can you imagine if Eriksen was starting in Holtby's place? I'd rigorously cream myself.
Adding Lamela and (I really hope) Eriksen as well, totally alleviates many of the headaches,
depth-wise and/or tactics-wise (up front) that we could've encountered along the way (this season).
Not to mention the immediate attacking threat & productivity boost that Lamela offers right off the bat.
And, if we could somehow manage to steal Eriksen as well, our creativity issues will practically cease to exist.
We're talking about a kid who was recently (very seriously) considered by Klopp as Mario Gotze replacement.
((Amongst a few other major clubs/managers, as well))

Lloris
Walker - Chiriches - Vertonghen - Rose
Capoue - Paulinho
Lamela – Holtby - Chadli
Soldado
