I always take stories about Man Utd being in for a player with a pinch ever since the sports writer (can't remember, a few years ago) said that on a Sunday they'd decide which player they would link Utd to and then spend the next two weeks reporting on the denials/interviewing ex-players about why it would be a good move, before re-doing the whole thing again with another player.

Me too. Unless they move on Fernandes or Van Der Beek I can’t see it. But when have their transfers ever made sense.

I am assuming ETH will adopt the 433 next season

All the rumours have indicated he wants to stay in London, which seems to dispel a United move.

Would he also really want to go there, as I think there’s major surgery required to get them competitive again?

It seems to me that any move for Eriksen is going to be a relatively short term deal, likely 1-2 seasons.

The way I see it he can go to Brentford and get first team football for a team he seems happy at and gets to be the main man.

He can join us and not be guaranteed to start the biggest games but will get plenty of game time at a team in the CL with a manager I believe he likes.

Utd can offer him money but he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter and he wouldn't get to play in the CL. The Utd link makes little sense to me.

United are still a massive club and maybe playing for another prestigious team is appealing to Eriksen. I guess there is also the possibility that Eriksen didn’t enjoy working with Conte before or would prefer to work with ETH. However in all other respects we are probably a more attractive proposition. We are based where he lives; have a better stadium; are in the Champions League; are already several months into our Conte revolution whereas United will be starting from scratch again. We also don’t know yet how things will pan out at United whilst Conte is already proving to be a successful appointment.

I also don’t see that he would get much more playing time at United than he would at Spurs. Fingers crossed we will have loads of games next season and we need to be able to rotate and mix things up. This year we had the luxury of one game a week for the last stretch of the season. If we want to go deep into the cup competitions we won’t have that same luxury and we won’t be able to play the same three front three every game.

If we don't sign him I'd love for him to stay at Brentford. He seems happy there and it's a great story.

This lad sounds like a terrific alternative..

Just a shame he sounds settled where he is, and would cost the Earth. Otherwise he’s perfect! Haha!

Still, a great multi faceted player with the experience of winning.

Absolutely zero chance we could get him, he is BM's golden child, he played a lot last season. There was some talk a few weeks back that some teams had been sniffing around Szoboszlai. I was curious to know if it was us seeing as Paratici is a big fan of his and wanted him at Juve before he left. Unfortunately he only just moved to Lipzieg so would cost a lot, but he'd be another option. Anyway, im still not convinced Eriksen will be coming here and im okay with that, what ever he wants for himself and his family.

I have wanted him for a while. It was interesting how he took up a forward position for Hungary at the weekend rather than the traditional number 10 position.
