Dempsey is miles better than he has shown so far . Good footballer , with Modric in the team he would have looked great .
I don't remember Dzecko , Balotelli , Tevez , Aguero begging to join us last transfer window .
I think I've figured it out, he is good at giving the opposition an extra player on the pitch by being invisible.
I thought that was his IQI'm starting to understand why his nickname is deuce...
He isn't suited to the role we want him to play, too often he is caught between helping the front man and helping the midfield two. The role in general needs to be better defined, and Dempsey needs to have a role that suits what he is good at - being a physical presence, albeit not like a proper target man, getting into the box and scoring goals.
If we can improve our all round attacking and defensive play we will see more from Dempsey, however I think JD and Adebayor is better than Dempsey and a striker at the moment. AVB has a tough decision on his hands
The thing with Dempsey is that he simply isn't a creative player. He is basically Frank Lampard, a goal scoring CM.
The problem is because he offers nothing else, it can feel like we are playing with 10 men a lot of the time and we have to compensate for him and we don't have good enough players fit at the moment to be able to carry him in a game. If we had a team full of flair then maybe we could just have a guy who scores and does very little else but he needs to chip in with creating chances and that simply isn't his game IMO.
Must say I don't like the scapegoating that's being done of Dempsey.
He's doing ok, but he will never be accepted at Spurs as we demand a van der Vaart in his position.
He just doesn't seem to suit us, some players just suit a team better then others.
Maybe he'll do a Pienaar and be loaned back to Fulham in Jan with a view to a permanent move.
I was chuffed when we signed him but think we need someone a little more creative for that central attacking role and personally on the wing I feel we need nippier players.
I'm not saying he's poor by any means as Fulham were gutted to lose him but having had VDV previously he isn't really good enough.
Can anyone please find out how many times Dempsey touched the ball and when he dd how many were forward passes?
Brenden Rogers had a right result not signing him.
I dont know about that. One of my colleagues at work who supports Fulham was far more annoyed at losing Dembele then Dempsey...
