Tottenham coach Clive Allen has branded Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger "two bob" in the wake of their north London derby clash.

The pair squared up to each other after the final whistle on Sunday as Spurs celebrated a 2-1 victory at White Hart Lane.
A policeman had to separate the duo as they became embroiled in an angry confrontation, with Wenger refusing to shake Allen's hand.

The Spurs man was left fuming by the actions of the Gunners manager, but insists there was no foul-mouthed exchange on the touchline.
"He refused to shake my hand," said Allen.

"He says he didn't see me or hear me - but he's two bob he is, two bob."
Asked if he had sworn at the Frenchman, Allen added: "No, I didn't call him any dirty word."

Wenger, though, hit back by pointing out that there is no rule stipulating that he has to shake hands with every member of an opposing coaching staff.
"I shook the hand of the manager and the assistant manager," he said.
"How many hands do I have to shake? Is there a prescription?

"No words were exchanged and if the story of the game is Clive Allen, you must ask him. He wanted to make himself the story, yes."
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp attempted to play down the incident afterwards, claiming that he was happy with Wenger's reaction to suffering a painful defeat.

He said: "Arsene shook hands with me and I'm pleased with that. I think Clive went to shake hands and he missed him. He didn't see him.
"But if he's going to shake hands, either do it and mean it or don't do it at all.
"If he doesn't want to, he shouldn't. Okay, Clive wasn't happy but Arsene shook my hand and, for me, that was it."

I know I'm in the minority here but I actually can see where Wenger is coming from a little bit. We all know he's a sore loser, it's just a shame our victory over Arsenal seems to be being overshadowed in media by the chants of both sets of supporters and our coach being upset Wenger didn't shake his hand.

smacks of clive's pride being wounded to me. perhaps arsene should've shaken his hand. but maybe clive was rubbing in the scoreline (who woudln't? it's lovely to beat arsenal). even so, i don't know that our entire coaching staff would've been so eager to shake arsene's hand if the scoreline was reversed.

Yep, no need for Wenger to go shaking hands with everyone I guess.

Rude, of course, but there is bad blood between those two anyway.

Thought Wengers reply was quite funny.

"I shook the hand of the assistant manager and the manager, how many people do i need to shake hands with!"

Much ado about nothing - Wenger shouldn't have to shake hands with everybody but as usual he falls back on the 'I didn't see it' line. Based on his past record of seeing clearly all correct decisions in their favour but somehow missing the bad I am slightly disinclined to believe him

....but Clive's above comments since are quite funny. I hope the revolting Pat Rice explains that it means something like 10p in old money

did anyone notice at the start of the match how Clive Allen shoulder barged Harry Redknapp out of the way to get to his seat. Maybe he gets really riled up by these matches.

Didn't Clive play for Arsenal briefly?

As I recall they bought him for big money then before he had a chance to kick a ball for them they swapped him for Kenny Sansom. You can see how he might feel that he was jerked around.

Wenger is an obnoxious ****. If an opponent offers his hand you should shake it. AW has a track record for shit like this and regularly behaves like a spoiled child after losing games. I reckon Harry was being sarcastic whe he said Wenger didn't see Allen.

I just don't understand why Wenger can't just be a normal person and shake someone's hand? How hard is it to do that? I don't care if Clive isn't a manager he is out there and just wanted to be civil and shake hands, show the fans (who can't seem to make up a chant that isn't over the top in rudeness) how to be civil even if you are on different teams. Its not like there was a line of 100 people there to shake hands with, just shake his hand and get out of there as quick as you can.

At his peak, about 7-8 years ago, Wenger was anything but a two-bob manager. But as a person, two-bob is pretty kind considering what a twat be is.

Allen did barge into Wenger during the 3-3 draw and much as I like Allen as a coach for us and think Wenger can be a bit of a dick, if some nob-head had barged into me on a previous occasion - and let's face it, it's very unlikely Wenger barged him first as he ain't the physical type lol - I'd be tempted to tell him to fuck off if he then wanted to shake my hand in the next meeting.

Also, looking at the pics in The Sun today, Allen's head does look like it's going to explode.

Blink and you'd have missed it.

Arsenal signed Clive Allen in the summer of 1980 from Queens Park Rangers and he played in their pre-season matches but was sold-on in a deal which brought Crystal Palace defender Kenny Sansom to Highbury before the real season had started.
