Southampton paid 12m for Long & has been a good signing for them. Ings is technically better than him & at a younger age & more prolific as well. He equally works harder like Long.

So, 12m price itself is a decent amount.

But then, we are Tottenham. Unless Pochettino has said Ings is the only one he wants, I guess we would be low balling a 5m bid.

He's under 24, therefore even though he's out of contract, we have to agree a fee with Burnley, otherwise it goes to a tribunal to decide a fee. The £12m (if true), may also involve agent and signing on fees for Ings and his representatives, and if recent ITK from JJ is correct and we looked to be losing the race, the huge bid (for an out of contract player), maybe a last-ditch attempt to blow a near-completed deal with a rival out of the water (i.e. Liverpool?)

Yeah I know but 12m isn't far off what he's worth if he had a 5 year contract

I think it was JJ that said the press are 2-3 days behind.

The press have re-established themselves ahead of the ITKs for the past 2-3 years. Alan Nixon of the Mirror for one broke more than half our stories last summer.

With respect, we also went through this whole 'it's off, it's on again' with JJ and Davies last summer

Unless Ings want it to happen, this wont happen.
I really see a better chemistry between Ings & Kane than Eriksen & Kane.

I find that £12 million bid a bit strange if the compensation is thought to be £7 million.

I can only think it's £12 million for both ings and trippier and we are trying to pressuring burnley into selling both to us. After all £12 million is a he of a lot to a club like burnley. They could use that on buying 3/4 players to get themselves straight back up without touching their parachute payments.

It seems like it is coming from this person. To me, this is 100% us trying to capitalise on Liverpool's temporary turmoil.

Tottenham are set to make a £12m bid for Burnley and England U21 striker Danny Ings #COYS #THFC #BFC #transfers (more follows)

Ings is out of contract at Burnley next week but Spurs are hoping they can secure the player before then #COYS #THFC #BFC #transfers

Just to clarify: Ings will be out of contract but WON'T be available for nothing - Burnley due compensation because of his age #COYS #BFC

It's not necessarily about what he's worth or even about making sure we get a bargain as he's out of contract. If he had a 5 year contract Burnley might say he's not for sale so clubs would have to pay well over what he's worth. Right now if Liverpool or others have stolen a march on us the only chance of getting him is by going in high with a huge offer.

It's not strange if he's close to a deal with another club or had already signed a pre contract deal with another team.

Pre-contracts have failed to be upheld in court before on the basis they only become valid when his contract ends.

If he'd already signed a pre contract agreement to go to Liverpool, as per JJ ITK, we can still sign him by agreeing a deal with Burnley before his deal runs out.

He can't sign a pre-contract till 1 July

He knows Levy's son. But he hasn't had a sniff of a story since AVB went. Perhaps Josh just got a bit more streetwise.

You do realise he chose to stop posting so much?
