Ade is gone in January and I think it's fair to say if we bring Welbeck or another CF in tomorrow it means Soldado is off. Unless Poch views Welbeck as a LWF primarily.
We need 3 strikers imo so perhaps you're right with Ade at ACN. I agree poch sees him as a LWF as he just isnt prolific enough to play up front.

Soldado won't go unless we bring in well beck and another top drawer striker.

If we do sign this guy, I hope he eventually plays his favored position. I think he's a very poor wide player, but decent finisher from the CF position.

Can't dribble, can't create, can't shoot from decent range. Chadli can offer what Welbeck may from the LWF position, but can also do those other three things at least decently enough.
I don't see what J Rod adds that Welbeck doesn't plus Welbeck adds more pace and a little bit more flair imo, plus he doesn't have question marks over permanent effects over injury and is 2 years younger.

Togo might not even qualify for ANC or did you mean being sold in Jan?

I agree. Erego why I'm not keen on Rodriguez either, and especially for those health concerns. You and I have discussed this topic quite a bit, and I'm not sure why with Chadli we seem to be going after another of this type to play wide left. Would much prefer a more creative type to play from the left to be able to alternative with the other types, since as of this moment despite the rotation, Eriksen and Lamela have large played from the central pivot slot and wide right respectively. I fear with time we may become too predictable if those two are our lone sources of creativity in the attacking positions, especially with the Holtby departure.

I wouldn't mind bringing in Welbeck to play striker though. Again, I do think he's a decent player in his favored position, I just don't think he's particularly contributive when playing wide. I think it's wise to be bringing in another striker, because if Togo does make it to the elimination rounds of the ACoN, I don't like our chances with the "maybes" surrounding Soldado's confidence and young Kane.

Personally, if Holtby is sold, I want us to bring in Welbeck & Maxim (Romanian dude from Stuttgart) with either or bothTownsend Lennon making way.

I do think Welbecks pace and running off the shoulder would be an asset though and think he is more creative and better at dribbling than you realise.

I hope you are right in every aspect of this post, as I would absolutely love to see Maxim at Spurs (another kid who at his trajectory may be beyond our grasp if he even has another year like his debut full one), and I hope you're right about Welbeck. From what I've seen though, I don't rate him in those categories at all. Think he's a very poor wide player.

Fortunately, with Poch's system of course he wouldn't be tasked with some of those things I think he lacks. But again, I don't see what he contributes that Chadli couldn't in that role aside from a bit more speed, while Chadli's skillset is itself more diverse.

He has better off the ball running than Chadli, which helps out the creative players also, he usually does more dribbles per 90 and higher success rate than all our players bar Lamela, Townsend & Dembele and only Lamela is as direct as him.

Also, for the games he starts on the bench, his pace, stamina and energy would be demoralizing for teams that have had to deal with Pochs intensity for the last 60 or so mins.

Well, to be fair, you'll have to understand if I'm still not impressed that his dribbling success rates are higher than our players from the last two years, last in particular. So predictable that we've just been so easy to read and easily shut down. The slow and infrequent passing forward prevents optimal space for the forward players to work with, so I'm sure their rates are very low.

I agree with your point on the off-ball running though, and given how Poch likes to play his player in that position I think you make a good point there.

I'm hoping that Welbeck joins us. And not on loan - or if on loan, an agreed price is established if Spurs wish a permanent deal at season' send.

This is an exciting possibility. An opportunity for Welbeck to develop his game, an opportunity for Pochettino to show how well he can develop talent, and an opportunity to help bring the Club to another, higher, level.

He is D Bent in disguise. Loan only would be best imo.
If I was to think of a striker that is least like Danny Welbeck, Darren Bent might be him. Congrats on that bro. Either not seen both of them or are legally blind. Welbeck is good at everything that isn't normal striker stuff and okay at being a striker. Bent is a poacher and nothing else. One will track back and harass the opponent all day, the other may never leave the attacking half.

I quite like him and I think he would be able to do a good job as LWF with Poch management. JR was a FC when he first arrive England. I am not worry.... Get him perm cheap and resell back to manure 60m... Lol

We've already seen that the three behind the centre forward are interchangeable so don't think we would be saying that he's going to be stuck out left all game.
