I was never his biggest fan, always thought him over rated

But I loved the way he refused to leave and wanted to stay and fight for his place even after being told he wasn't part of our plans

He's not the best CB at the club or even likely to be a starter long term but players like that are needed at your club and I hope he stays with us til the day he dies - ok I'll settle for until he retires

Dawsons 2 biggest issues is also one of his strengths... His pace which above everyone has eluded to and the other is his heart/never die attitude this is also detrimental to his game! He knows he isn't quick enough so goes with his first reaction which half the time is to try and intercept a pass or player that in hindsight isn't the right move... Where someone like terry or rio would even for that split second analyse the decision he won't just throws himself into it... The block he made tonight will come off once in every 4 or 5 times... I can see why avb is unsettled with him as first choice but can also see why we all love him!

He tried to pinch the ball, it was a fair way out and that guy had little or no pace, verts could have tracked him back. He made a wrong decision imo
Thats your opinion and i respect that, but i don't agree.

Verts was wrong footed, had his back to goal, and pace or no pace, Streller had the angle and momentum on him.

What the fuck? He made a very poor decision irrespective of what went on before that. Please dont try and suggest he had no other option.
It's not irrespective given the thread is heralding Dawson as awesome.

I love the fact we have a player prepared to bleed till the death for our shirt. Enjoy it and cherish it, these players are a dying breed.

Exactly. I will forgive the occasional lapse in judgment or misplaced pass because of everything else he brings to the table.

Its why we all loved Freund isnt it. Take the personality out of football and you get a sterile joyless experience with no connection between team and fans, and a stadium of whiney sulkers.

Dawsons like Parker, throws himself about. Looks heroic last ditch stuff. but it generally costly or stems from poor play originally. It seems to me you get more credit sliding in giving away throw ins/corner kicks then you do actually diss possessing someone and coming away with the ball ala Dembele/vertonghen more often than not.

It's the sprint, drive, sweat and tears.

Probably the wrong reasons like you say, but so endearing none the less

Such a valid point. I never thought we were that kind of club. In the 20 years I've been a fan, we've always been proper flakers, the southern fairies. Dawson, epitomises the English Bulldog spirit like few others and I'm proud to have him wearing the shirt . His effort tonight reminded me of Carragher vs. Milan.

His attitude is the kind that courses through the team, and that's got to be worth quite a lot.

It is in the concept of the sending off it's my opinion Verts made a wrong choice, even if you want to portion some blame onto Dawson, i feel Verts got it wrong.
