Fair play mate, didn't realise you had access to his thoughts.

I stand corrected

I can only comment on what he showed me during that time when he took to the field, It appalled me that we had others fighting for possession giving the ball to Alli only for him to try another failed party trick, throw himself to the ground then cry to the ref that he was fouled.

Got any examples?

No I do not. I remember too many matches during the time when balls went into Alli and possession was frequently turned over, others were frantically chasing back to correct his inability to keep the ball and play simply. Too much extravagance where it wasn't needed.

Yeah which matches in particular would be a good start...

Whilst I agree with you to an extent you are missing out all the pluses that he brought to the team during that period. He did give the ball away frequently (have a look in all the early match threads for proof) during games but that’s more likely when he was trying to make things happen. His work rate can never be questioned either, he gave 100% during this time and you’re wrong to question that.

But he was also playing a different role to last season at times. I think you’re being too harsh.

You can make things happen, by keeping possession moving the ball and drawing the opposition out into areas they don't want to go. We couldn't get past first base to try out that plan, because Alli kept on thinking it was time for another 'give the ball away trick.'

So do yours whilst you ignore facts like goals and assists.

While you ignore the principles of making the ball do the work and make the opposition do the chasing after it. It might open your eyes to the possibility of oceans of space being created and as a consequence goals and assists could quite easily be doubled.

Funny how this frequently recurring theme is only apparent to you though isn't it.

According to stats 12 october he were the player who had until then the most unsuccsesful touches and were dispossessed second most in Premier League.

Yet he still scored plenty of goals and assisted in plenty of goals. Lies, damn lies, and statistics !

On SC right now, in two concurrent threads:

  • Dembele is being criticised in one for not getting anywhere near goals or assists and not being brave enough to try things which unlock defences, with his ability to keep possession, draw opposition players out and protect the ball being largely ignored; while
  • Dele is being criticised for trying the unpredictable too often, losing possession regularly, not protecting the ball, with his ability to regularly score goals and assist goals being largely ignored.
This site is bat shit crazy.

I thought he had a really good game last night.

He’s going to be our key player for the rest of the season. He looks to be on top form.

Edit: forgot to say, he was instrumental in both goals last night. Actually, he seems to be involved in all our goals here and there.

Dele Alli has been in excellent form recently and his attitude straight after the loss to Man Utd in the SF perfectly encapsulated everything a Spurs fan would've wanted to hear from a player; he was hurting the same way that we were. People forget how young he actually is but he came across incredibly mature in that interview.

Yes, he does tricks sometimes; sometimes they come off and look great, other times they don't and he looks stupid. You're quick to forget that it was one of his "party tricks" that kept the ball in play to set up Kane for that iconic goal against Arsenal a few years ago.
