I hate myself for posting this, but imho, if Neymar goes to PSG, I reckon a good chunk of his fee will immediately be thrown at Spurs for Dele :-(
Why would they replace a lightening quick LW with a CAM/CF who arguably doesn't even fit their system? They'd go for someone like Dybala, Hazard, Coutinho, Dembele. They want Verratti anyway.

Thankfully Barca want Coutinho and not Alli
they will go pick for Coutinho --- if they get 196 for Neymar could see them getting into the 90s for Coutinho

--- which is silly by the way. Shame that Barca have somewhat lost their way in the transfer market.

As much as I love Alli I don't think he has the kind of qualities that would fit in a Barca team. They much prefer small quick technical players than big athletic players.

Utter bollocks. He was a integral part of the best defence in the PL the last 2 seasons & best team league wise since 61. Laughable how supposed thfc fans now are trying to rubbish him. He was our/England's best RB, we are a weaker team without him. If KT was as good as some of you are now all of a sudden hyping him up to be why the fuck didn't mcfc sign him instead?

Regardless of the price selling him to a direct rival, yes mcfc are just that now, sends out completely the wrong message to our team/rivals. We are still a selling club in everyone else's eyes and this transfer confirms that. Don't be surprised if the likes of Dier, Alli, Eriksen, Toby, etc, push for a move in the next year or so if we end up trophyless again & continue to pay under the market rate for wages.....
The fundamental difference is that we. chose to sell him, we didn't decide to sell him because we wanted to move him on but when the option was there we decided we could do without him, Pochottino wasn't desperate to keep him.
I understand your point but it ignores a fundamental difference in where our club is now.
That said with the new stadium and revenues our players will be expecting corresponding pay rises which we will have to accept otherwise they will start looking elsewhere.
Dele is going nowhere and every club knows it so if any club shows an interest it is just for future reference.

Taken from teamtalk.com, probably a Liverpool fan ....

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has reportedly suggested that his club sign Tottenham ace Dele Alli instead of Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona are in the market for a marquee signing, having first chased Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, before turning their attention to Coutinho.

With the futures of both Neymar and Andres Iniesta uncertain, the Catalan club are on the lookout for top-quality replacements.
But despite rumours of a mammoth £80m bid for Coutinho, it appears Liverpool are unwilling to do business over their key player.

However, Messi has reportedly told Barcelona that they should be going after Spurs midfielder Alli instead.

The England international was a key component of Tottenham’s strong Premier League showing last term, scoring 18 goals and providing a further seven assists in 37 appearances, missing just one game.

And the Barcelona may be forced to consider their star’s advice and look elsewhere, as Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted time and again that Coutinho will not be sold, telling the Liverpool Echo: “If I say he is not for selling, he is not for selling.”

Additionally, there has been no sign that the playmaker has agitated for a move, participated in pre-season preparations as usual, with no complaints over his attitude or application.

However, Alli is unlikely to be a cheaper alternative than his Brazilian counterpart, with chairman Daniel Levy infamous for being a tough negotiator.

But the midfielder’s comments to the Daily Express in May could give the Spanish club more hope of signing him, as he refused to commit his long-term future to Tottenham, saying: “It’s important you enjoy the journey, whether I end up at Tottenham for the next 15 years and retire here [or leave].

“I think it’s important for me not to get too carried away by what will happen in the future.

“The way football is, anything can happen at any time. I will enjoy my time here now; who knows what will happen in the future.”

I remember these interviews coming out and being very encouraged by them, he seemed in no rush to leave knowing he's still got room to grow here and plenty of years ahead of him. Funny how these things get twisted.

I'd still brick it if they made a bid though!

Love how they add "[or leave]" to Dele's quote, as he never actually said it and that's what they inferred. Fucking ponces.

Excatly, I've fixed the Klopp quotes for them

“If I say he is not for selling, he is not for selling (obviously this doesn't apply to my own transfer targets, as I'm a massive hypocrite).”

or

“If I say he is not for selling, he is not for selling (unless he forces his way out and we sell him like Suarez and Mascherano).”

This link was inevitable, once they sold Neymar. They need to spend big on a young talent to appease their fans. I still think Coutinho will be the one they end up with though.

Yeah, honestly he is the more Barca style player than Alli IMO. Alli is great, but he doesn't strike me as a Barca player. Coutinho just has a bit more class on the ball that fits the Neymar role. But who knows...I just can't see us shipping off 18 league goals at this point in the window.

But I do get the sense Alli will be gone soon for some reason. The way he walked off the pitch today was negative af.
