I didn't realise how much Sunderland fans seem to hate us till I went on one of their forums just now. Apparently we are 'arrogant' the media always big us up etc. Some even say they hate us only behind Newcastle and would much prefer City or Liverpool to get 4th.

Bunch of clueless fuckers.

There was also some really intelligent post in which a twat said his grandad was in the SS as to why he hated Spurs. Also i noticed our very own ITK Storts posts on there, he gets about!

Most of the "fans" today know F*** all about football, because they are spoon fed a diet of Sky bullshit. The only foot ball they watch at any level is on TV. Sky big up the EPL massively, which suits their own purposes. Our so called best footballing side getting the piss ripped out of them by Barca the other night is a good example. As for other fans hating Spurs, its because we have a fanbase all over the World, which came about because of our tradition & history and not the ramblings of a demented jock

The only reason they are Spurs "tainted" at the minute is because we may be in their "elite top4". they are just hedging their bets in case we get there. They really will wet their pants if Citeh get there ( loads of money to spend and bucketloads more hype for Sky )

I'll go out on a limb here and say that the reason we are hated so much now is because we, as fans and club, have always considered that we are a big club and that sooner or later that will be realised and we will return to where we always thought we should be. The fans of other sides who hate us (and note that the fans of the very top teams, save for maybe the Arse, don't hate us nearly as much as the mid and lower table fans) think what we are nothing but a mid-tabel side who are still holding on to delusions of top club grandieur. Perhaps we are, perhaps we aren't. But fact is we're doing better this year than any of them and we may just be beginning to move back into that top flight status...................which they utterly hate because, right or wrong, it vindicates the attitudes of a lot of spurs fans.

really though it's not hard see why they see it that way is it?

Oh of course, we've been bigging up Defoe well above his station I think this season and every set of fans do this to their own.

I don't personally rate Defoe as highly as some on here, that's not to say he isn't a very good player, he is, and he is worlds ahead of Darren Bent. Similar type of player, goalscorers who don't add much else to the general play, but surely anyone can see Defoe is just much better in nearly every department. Except Twittering.

I too rate Defoe higher than Bent but there's not much in it imo

Bent has been nothing short of a saviour for them this season and I'm not sure Defoe would've put up the same type of numbers up their

Bent never had a chance here he wasn't wanted by half the fans before he'd even kicked a ball

I personally think there's miles between them, but it's all opinions

I don't think there'd be much difference between number of goals scored wherever they play, they will always score goals just Defoe has more quality, more unpredictability and whilst I criticise him for his overall contribution it is in my opinion streets ahead of Bent's. I think Bent actually scuppered our play at times last season, although I never got on his back, and agree that the Spurs fans were hardly kind on him - just not my type of player I'm afraid.

I'm aware it's exactly these kind of posts that make Spurs fans hated.

Yup the big 5 , remember that .

Don't think we are particularly hated (local rivalry aside) don't think we are particularly bad fans . This all a bit of playground stuff isn't it .

On the Sugar discussion . he definitely took us in the opposite direction he should have with transfers (deciding to avoid buying foreign players, 'Carlos kickaballs') , he was a novice and had been freaked out by the failed Ossie experiment which was ahead of its time personnelwise . So we missed the Prem revolution as foreign players flooded in and technical quality shot up . We got left behind and in a sense are still catching up .
BUT , he is credited by some with steadying a wobbly financial situation.
Whether it was worth the next 15 years as midtable nonentities you can decide .

selling Gascoigne to Lazio has got to go as the worst transfer decision ever not just in the history of our club but in football.
