He's just a natural captain. He was captain of the Sporting U21s without it being his native language, and Everton made him their U18 captain while he was there on loan.
Still amazed that despite being in the England u21's he slipped under the radar of so many clubs over here.
Been really impressed with him.
Hodgson can get fucked. And how he's been ignored by Hodgson all season while Chambers has been a shoe in from the start of the season.
He's liable to certain brainfarts at times.. but at his age you can forgive that.. assuming he can work those out of his game (perhaps a bit difficult with the intelligence levels of the fullbacks either side of him) it's kind of hard to see what weaknesses he has as a defender - he seems to have a bit of class in everything including an aerial threat in attack. I guess after his goalscoring start, its a little disappointing neither he or Jan are getting more goals as you see the two Chelsea neanderthals doing that..
He's still only 21, in his first season in a totally new league...and yet he's done excellent so far. But the 2nd season will be his big test, when the opponents have had time to figure him out.
And 21 is young for a CB (in the EPL) in any circumstance - whehter one has "grown" up in an EPL club or not - as CB and CDM are 2 of the most difficult - and pivotal - positions in the team.
Spurs have had 3 youngesters - Dier, Bentaleb and Kane - excel in the 3 most "difficult" positions, and they will (hopefully) only get better and better.
