I do too. Love the way he stood up to bully boy Costa. Will be a Spurs and England regular for years to come.

Future Spurs captain. Build our spine around the likes of him, Bentaleb & Kane. Their attitudes and talent are first class. Chuck a couple of worldies in amongst them and we have a bright future.

He's still only 21, in his first season in a totally new league...and yet he's done excellent so far. But the 2nd season will be his big test, when the opponents have had time to figure him out.
And 21 is young for a CB (in the EPL) in any circumstance - whehter one has "grown" up in an EPL club or not - as CB and CDM are 2 of the most difficult - and pivotal - positions in the team.
Spurs have had 3 youngesters - Dier, Bentaleb and Kane - excel in the 3 most "difficult" positions, and they will (hopefully) only get better and better.
PS! It will be interesting to see the progress of 4 other British youngesters playing over-seas: CB Danny Collinge (Stuttgart), CB/CMF Taylor Moore (Lens), Ryan Gauld (Sporting CP) and CF Jack Harper (Real M).

Still amazed that despite being in the England u21's he slipped under the radar of so many clubs over here.
Been really impressed with him.

Yep if he can keep developing along with bentaleb and Kane we have the spine of our team for 10 years. Every great team needs one!

I've been impressed with his ability, but his temperament and attitude has really shone through in the last month or so. Probably easier to take charge when his confidence isn't shattered from struggling as a fullback.

Pace will be a differentiating factor for Dier at Centre Back....he has it. One of our few bright spots against Chelsea....yes we need an onfield captain!

And how he's been ignored by Hodgson all season while Chambers has been a shoe in from the start of the season.

He's liable to certain brainfarts at times.. but at his age you can forgive that.. assuming he can work those out of his game (perhaps a bit difficult with the intelligence levels of the fullbacks either side of him) it's kind of hard to see what weaknesses he has as a defender - he seems to have a bit of class in everything including an aerial threat in attack. I guess after his goalscoring start, its a little disappointing neither he or Jan are getting more goals as you see the two Chelsea neanderthals doing that..

I said at the very start of the season when he was being played out of position that his calmness and timing of his tackles really reminded me of King. Doesn't look too flustered and knows when to go for the ball, to ground, to stay on his feet etc. Tackling is a real art, and one I appreciate as much as an Eriksen free kick or a Lloris save.

Physically he has the tools to be a top top CB. At 21 he stands up already to the physicality of a new league and some of the top players he has matched for strength. While he also possesses very good pace. Like Ledley and the better CBs of recent times such as Ferdinand, Vertonghen, Kompany etc he also is very comfortable with the ball at his feet-can pass dribble and drive with the ball...

Now, i'm not going to be so blasé as to say he is our next King, but when considering his calm mentality, his ability to tackle and to time them, the fact he is both strong and fast...to me I believe he is the best prospect we have had at CB in some time that could get close to the ability of King Ledders (and apologises Sol Campbell).

Obviously his mentality, concentration, positioning, decision make etc still has to evolve to fulfill this great potential but then he is very young, and he gives me the impression of someone who will work to iron out deficiencies and improve.

He's going to be a top, top player, no doubt about it. If Verts sticks around we'll have the CB position sorted for years to come.

The back five of Rose, Verts, Dier and Walker is a good platform to build from.

And in fairness to what I said above..Vertonghen and Kompany have been good value for a ricket anyway this season.. Dier-Bentaleb-Kane must honestly be one of the most exciting young spines of a team around.. now to sort out what goes on around them.

Indeed.

Even Ledley was prone - most notably in the 2002 League Cup final.

I'm not sure that that is applicable to centre backs in the same way that it can be to more attacking players - especially so given that Dier is so well rounded with all the necessary attributes (pace, height, ability on the ball, mentality).

Think he'll be a major player for us next season. I'd like him now to have a run of games until the end of the season.
