Some on this wonderful forum need to wake up. Unless you want to go a support one of the super rich clubs, what you are feeling and experiencing this sunny Friday is just part of the rich tapestry which is football.

You win- you lose, you enjoy - you hate, but its still just football. I love it still (most of the time) but thats just they way it, football is.

If you can't hack all the ups and downs along the way, try gardening.

We are 5th in the top division of our country, stop feeling so glum, just spare a thought for Hyde FC fans.

Exactly, some people have been spoiled recently. I do think the money that we are expected to fork out to follow our team these days has a lot to do with too.

Arh money yes I agree. But it like most hobbies eg fishing and golf, green fees and good venue fishing tickets and bait cost a bomb.

I've been following Spurs for 45 years and there will never be parole. :)

I haven't felt the same since Jol was undermined and fired.

Hard to expect the players to respect the club when they treat the manager so badly.

Must be honest since we qualified for champions league under Harry and saw then Levy never went and properly invested too push on it was then I started to doubt him and the club and this season has only reinforced my opinion further.
We are in total disarray and are completely rudderless from top to bottom.

I tried gardening once. Wasn't much different. You spend half a year working hard, getting your hopes up, the reward is there - ready to be reaped, aaaand then it all dies away and you have to start from scratch again.

No, nowhere near as much as I used to...but I think it's more about me rather than Spurs...I just think my time as a true match-attending supporter is over. Went last night and to be honest, I had no interest in any of it.

I'm interested in every match we play. Difference is unlike some I have put this season into perspective. It all went wrong with the sale of Bale (even though the ass wanted out) and then AVB messed it up. There is no smoke without fire and you don't go from a consistent top 4 side who could mix it with the best to losing 5-0, 6-0 and say "It takes time to build a team".

Sherwood was the best bet in the current situation. Why don't you think we spent any money in January? It's all being saved for the next incoming manager after the World Cup.

This season is a write off. Stop expecting what clearly is not going to happen. Just go along for the ride now and then it starts again next season.

We should have had Harry 10 years ago when he was really interested in football. Not the lazy, can't really be asked manager we had who eventually got himself sacked.

If Levy really wants to move forward we have to stop gambling on up and coming managers and go get a hungry proven one.

You know, like say the current Dutch manager :)

I've noticed over the last few weeks that the number of posts, debates and general passion normally in abundance on this site, has now dropped off to alarmingly low level.

I'm assuming that pre season optimism has now been replaced by an acceptance and admission that this season is now a write off and the accumulation of disappointment after further disappointment has lead to the feeling of hopelessness and subsequently a reluctance to post, debate or create new posts.

I have a deflated feeling and this is progressing to a dire lack of motivation when discussing this great football club.

Anyone else having similar feeling?

Yeah I'd agree with most of that, my expectations for the season are now very low, don't see us putting a decent run together, far too many injuries and far to many employees of our club seem to be better at doing their talking off the pitch.

I'm intrigued rather than optimistic for the summer but that is based on the critical assumption that Sherwood is sent packing for good. I have absolutely no confidence in him.

On the bright side, 5 or 6 years ago a 'write-off' season meant 8th or 9th, not 5th or 6th. It is somewhat perverse that this season we could finish 5th and win nothing, and have that seen as a 'write-off' season when that was exactly what happened last year when many were heralding our greatest ever premier league points tally.

Yes. Been like that for a while now. Long term fans of the club have been through much worse, but for some reason the enthusiasm for the club and the football we're playing is gone. Never thought I'd say it, but I actually miss Redknapp for his style of football. For nothing else, mind.

I'd take him ahead of Sherwood or AVB right now.

Let Levy and his Board worry about that. In fact, I will go as far as appealing to the strongest breed of our supporters to show their anger and utter disappointment towards the powers that be, that we are not going to let anyone walk over us without any resistance. We have to let them know that this is our team and we want it to be up there winning silverware and competing in the CL. We will take nothing less.

Yep, I'm finding it a struggle at the moment. I think in many ways we missed the boat two years ago by just missing out again on Champions League. The time to invest in big players was back then when we had Bale, Modric and Van der Vaart. We could have then had a formidable team rather than a very good team.

My lack of passion stems from:
  • selling those players
  • the fact that we were on the verge of great things...now we're just also rans
  • constant hiring and firing of managers
  • stadium taking longer than was hoped
The bigger picture of course is that we are a well run club, still competing well given our wage structure and power of the teams above us, but at the moment it's hard because it feels like a case of 'what might have been'.

I have not wanted a season to end as much as I do wish this one would

Its odd as points wise we have done ok............but what has brought me to a state of depression is how dull we are. Even when we win it rarely with a flourish. Not having a superstar like Bale has been part of that for sure.

I can count on one hand how many times we have played well this season. I am Spurs fan........i am not in this to win trophies each year etc. I know other teams might not get that. But I am in it for the entertainment, the excitement, yes lots of lows..........but some cracking highs to minimise the affects of the lows.

This season just feels mainly low

There has been far too much turnover in recent seasons as we strive to compete with greater spending power. Unfortunately this meant losing players we could identify with, and faced with so many new players who haven't hit the ground running.

Maybe next year, after bedding in, we can look forward to establishing some new match winners.

I'd be disillusioned if we sell 5 or 6 players, and bring more of the same in (we're not going to attract great players this summer, so work with the potential?). We need squad stability, if not managerial stability.
