Hmmm... bit tangential, but isn't it enough? Surely you too follow football for entertainment and if you're not entertained then you're bored?
I watch it for a bit of entertainment and also because I support the club, so the main thing is winning and then if we do it very well then I'm happy. If we lose, not end of the world but obvs prefer to win

Que? I assume when you say glory you mean our solitary CL appearance, which isn't glory. If not then I assume you mean our style of play. We only used to pride ourselves on our style of play as it was the one thing we could hold onto when we won no trophies. AVB is on the right track to progression up the league and we are in all comps atm. I will hold out on any sort of judgement till end of the season. Ill take substance over style atm considering I can only remember seeing us win one trophy in my life

There Is neither style or substance going on other than boring unimaginable robotic pointless football otherwise the rest is ok.

2) We don't need to play DMs at home. AVB's selection is too negative. It's generally assumed that Sandro/Capone are our DMs and Paulinho/Dembele are our more attacking minded midfielders. Today we didn't start a noted DM in middle of the park, yet it's greeted with negativity after weeks of ppl saying we need to take the head break off at home.
A really flawed point. Our midfield just doesn't work with two "attacking CMs" as the more creative players aren't given the licence to go forward. Today was the perfect example and why AVB didn't pick Sandro is beyond me..Dembele's midweek performance was not exactly a match winning performance too.

As we saw today when Sandro is on the pitch it let's others get forward more, particular Paulinho and from now on I want Sandro or Capoue to start every league game home or away. Yes I would have agree with your point at the beginning of the season but it has been proven right infront of our very own eyes that Paulinho and Dembele is not such a strong midfield partnership as you'd like to think.

I can't agree with op. It's just spinning the dross we are watching

What you don't seem to take into account is that the opposition know what we are going to do a whole week before they play us

As I have said earlier we are like Chelski when he was there a better away team than home team because we are not mobile and committed enough at home

Forget who does what because it's all the same

I have been an observer of this site for a little while but am mainly on twitter talking and reading Spurs.

Just going to give my thoughts on the current situation & fans views I frequently see & am baffled about.

1) When every team is announced I see, look at our bench, we must have the best bench/squad in the league etc etc. Today Sandro didn't start presumably due to not being 100% fit after asking to come off in our last league game. Instead we have Dembele & Paulinho. At HT I see people slating the fact that Sandro didn't start & that he should always start. Question. Do we have a great squad/bench or not? Under previous regimes I saw ppl crying that we never had squad depth or never rotated & so ran players into the ground.

3) Stop playing inverted wingers it don't work. Play wingers on there natural sides & cross the ball. In the same breath these same people are saying Lamela should be stating. Do they realise he played off the right for Roma? Can you imagine if he started on the left for us & didn't impress the amount AVB'S would be slated.

4) In all my years of watching Spurs, whether it be from open play or set pieces, I can probably count on my hands the amount of goals we've scored from balls crossed into the box. There were plenty of games under Harry where Azza played on the right & Bale on the left & we couldn't break down teams or a keeper had 'one of those days'.

5) Also ppl complain about Towsend shooting as it breaks up a carefully measured build up play. Do you realise if you just whip balls into the box & when it gets headed clear that measured build up has come to nothing. The reason for inverted wingers is to create deliberate opportunities rather than hitting the ball into an area & hoping.

Don't get me wrong. We could/should be playing a lot better & for one reason or another aren't but the amount of contradictory drivel I hear spouted is annoying & hilarious in equal measure. For me we don't have enough ppl running past the ball and looking to break defensive lines. Everyone comes short so as not to takes risk or lose the ball.

Yes we do. Not starting Sandro has cost us against West Ham, Chelsea, and now Newcastle. You don't play a high line without a defensive midfielder. Period.

You don't think the second half was a big improvement today?
Maybe it was but that is not the point when you are playing at home and expected to take 3pts. Imo it was the bare minimum I expected and should of been more like this in the first 45 given we are the home side and with a better squad, Though understanding Avb he presumably wanted to keep it slow tempo and then hit them with a goal in the 90th minute.

Man City lose to Sunderland in relegation zone, Pelligrini out. Chelsea getting a lucky pen and draw at home to WBA, Mourinho out. Things cant be that bad with AVB

City managed to put 7 past Norwich and 4 past United, but we've managed 8 goals from 11 games, which is disgraceful when you consider the talent we have at our disposal

Yes, things are bad under AVB, because his system ain't working and he appears clueless to change it..

The premier league is about fast tempo,

This is not Italy or Spain this is England.

Does AvB grasp this?

Why is the play so slow and laboured? are they bogged down with instructions?

Too much instruction stifles natural flair.

Bale was given a freedom last season and used it to great effect

It's true we have been playing boring football and IMO could play with more freedom and expression and get as good if not better results.

We need to play a holding midfielder as this allows the full backs to push forward creating the width. This is what happened second half and the reason we played so well in the first half at Everton. This needs to happen for the inverted wingers to work.

Playing through desperation rather than tactical improvement. We had no choice because we couldn't get much freaking worse!!
See I don't get this Chris. When we play the same way in both halves against Hull/West Ham or whoever it's AVB's fault. When we play much better or do improve, it's glossed over as desperation/had no choice or somesuch.

Would it really hurt to give a little credit? We were much improved in the second half and if AVB must carry the can for the negatives, then he should certainly be given some credit for our improved second half performance.

Onions.

Fair way to put it but we shouldn't have started those games in that way to begin with. After WH, Hull x2 and games prior to those why his he still yet to learn that starting that slow is causing us problems?

We were much improved the 2nd half granted, but it was easier to be better than to be worse. Our tactics are much the same as last year..........it's painful to watch.

Yeah. You see, I've been studying the shoulder stats, and this'll tickle you, A&C, but you've got to go all the way back to West Ham for a diagonal counter rabbit.

Or the apricot man could do a pass over across the nutmeg off the sock. If you play the sockmaster like I say you've got three points written blind.
Thanks for clarifying. I think the trifle sprinkled with coffee grounds has its place, but only if brought on after 60 minutes for the wellington boot.
