City owner Thaksin Shinawatra told Eriksson he was "not the right man for the job" at a meeting on Saturday, a source close to the Swede said.

Eriksson informed the players at training on Monday that he would be dismissed, provoking an angry response.
Shinawatra has been unhappy with City's results since the turn of the year.

if true it could mean another season of transition for man city and so that can only be good news for us, no?

I can never understand what these chairmen expect of their managers. How far in reality could Man City go? I would have thought that any where between fifth and ninth is a respectable position. To break into the so called top four and stay there seems to be an impossible job.

I think he's had a pretty good first season as a premiership manager.

If Thaksin sacks Sven I'll be part cheering because that will probably mean another transitional year for City.

But I'd also be very sorry for Sven. He's done a very good job with the players he has, the squad were never good enough to keep up that fantastic start.

Hey Rooster , I would hardly think that Thaksin falls into any general category and is unlikely to be a good example of 'these chairmen' for any discussion purposes .

The folk on Radio 5 this morning said Sven would walk away from the club and not want any compo either.

No he's not the run of the mill chairman, but IMO they're all much of a muchness, Levy included. Apart from Manure & Woolwich the expectations of the club(s) are unrealistic. City had a great start to the season and a double over the reds. SGE admitted early on that they weren't good enough but given time they could improve and stabilise. That is where the majority of clubs are at. Unless one of the top one go in to free-fall that's how it will stay.

Who does he think will come to City after doing this? They won't get anyone as good as Sven.

The owner needs a reality check.

Absolutley amazing!!!

This is even more crazy than us sacking Jol, at least Jol was given two full seasons.

Poor city fans, although i hope Berba phones up Petrov and has a crack about him not joining us, can see City turning into another newcastle at this rate

That Thai chairman ain't to clever  Sven has done magic with a small squad and the players want him to stay.

What a true idiot....exactly what team does he think he's got

Even though Sven ain't to popular in Britain....for some wierd reason....i feel the media will go with the flow and ridicule Thaksin

Thaksin is showing himself up as an utter moron. Sven has done a great job with the squad he has and now they're back to square one. I feel for the Citeh fans, they must be gutted.

That's fucking crazy. I seriously hope a crazed City fan tops Shinawatra. He's a disgrace to football.

Ridiculous, but not unexpected from Thaksin to be perfectly honest, what does he know about football? Sven would probably do well to get out of there, especially seeing has Shinawatra signed three Thai players, allegedly without Sven's say so.

There is no way that Sven would walk away without any compo, this is the man who did nothing for a year so he could keep getting paid by the FA.

To be honest City overperformed in the 1st half of the season. I think that if they swapped the 1st half and the 2nd half of the season then he wouldn't be getting sacked.

The problem Shinawatra had is he was expecting to chuck a few quid about and turn City into United, when you hear him interviewed it's clear he doesn't have a clue.

good news for us

everything was geared at City for them to become a huge club - big stadium, financial backing, great manager, great academy, good new players, good youngsters coming through etc...

What a joke. Sven has proved at Citeh he is a top club manager and will probably now end up at a top club in Spain or Italy. This is just one reason why i dont want my beloved Spurs to be sold to some foreign nob jockey, im very happy with the way the club is run by DL.

A cautionary tale for all those people who want Spurs to get a foreign magnate in to run the club. I think City will eventually pay very dearly for allowing this nutjob to take over.
