A scrappy game between two teams desperately seeking some form. Overall I thought we were slightly the better side dominating them defensively and causing them more problems attack wise but lacking the final ball and a little bit of composure in the final third. All of the forward 3 were poor.
I thought we would probably go on to win the game whenever Conte made his substitutions. The penalty incident changed that narrative. Whilst obviously the correct decision the overturning of the penalty fired up the home crowd and team resulting in them putting us on the back foot for the next 15-20 minutes for what was their only real sustained period of pressure. As it was the substitutions never really had the desired effect until too late in the game.
Another game for Conte to get a look at the squad. It’s going to take him time to turn things around with these players getting away it for such a long time under the last 3 managers.

Final ball was woeful today. Lots to work on. For me we still look like a group of players that have never played together. It's just all so disjointed in possession. Something I suspect Conte will be working them hard with the players that aren't going to their international teams.

Thursdays game was very demanding physically and it showed today.
No surprise Everton were fresher and sharper especially in the second half.

West Ham beating Liverpool
Already
Once again someone has to do a spoiler by mentioning the scores from other games that have no relevance to the discussion about our game. If people really wanted to know what’s happening in that game they’d be watching it. Others may have other things they need to do and have recorded it to view later.

First ask of Conte was tighten us up and he did that today. Obviously hasn't fixed our poor defensive form but few steps in right direction. He gets that right then more attention to attacking patterns.

Hoped for the win but will be better days ahead

Regullion was awful for me and prolly the worst player on the pitch apart from the shot, not sure if he has a knock though.
Reguilon was more of a threat the front three combined. But even if you thought he as awful, Davies could have gone to LWB and Tanganga or Sanchez could have went into the back three.

Regullion is nowhere near as good as people on SC think, he disappoints me most weeks. Would love sessegnon to get fit and get his shit together as left wing back position is made for him

Not too much to say, very early days with Conte so obviously he needs time to coach our bunch of misfits into his 3-4-3, that being said we clearly lack quality in some areas, we are a good 3-4 top signings away from where we need to be, mainly at:
CB
CM
WF
ST
and hopefully Conte could convert Bergwijn to back-up LWB similar to how he converted Moses, or maybe Sessengon could come good because we lack quality back-up to Regullion.

Good away point, clear system and plan, onwards and upwards
Bergwijn isn’t left footed so he won’t be able to play as a left wingback.

What exactly is Sessegnon’s injury and what is the timeframe for his return? He seems to be permanently crocked!

Never fails to infuriate me when you just know that any decent team would be bringing on another pacy attacker( or 2) to change the dynamic up front and then you remember we haven't got one. Absolute unforgivable shambolic failure yet again this summer.

That was what I was expecting Conte to do but ….

“Work is the only medicine for us.” Love that. He’s a breath of fresh air in this club and if I was a player I would run through brick walls for him. I hope our lot have the bollocks to stand up and be counted. Hopefully the quality will come but for now if he makes us fitter and instills a stronger mentality, that will more than do for me
