I think anyone suggesting we have gone backwards should consider whether in seasons past, playing as we have so far, we would've kept 13 clean sheets and amassed as many points as we have. We wouldn't, even in the glory days of Modric, Bale etc!

This team is a work in progress but is built on strong foundations and are clearly together as one unit.

They didn't go backwards either.
You call a record points tally in one season and the best ever start to a season in another going backwards? And this playing without what most people would call team fluency. Clearly there's no pleasing you then. We came from being a mid table club for the past few years and now all of a sudden people think we should be title contenders because we spent a bit of cash. Here's a heads up for you: the game today is all about cash and we're going to have to spend more if we want the kind of results you lot expect. Everyone remembers the growth but no-one remembers the growing pains.

Defoe was awful on Wednesday and got loads of shit for it, some fair, some not. Soldado was just as bad, if not worse at the weekend but he'll largely get off scot free.

As per usual, but thats what people on this site, or the majority of them are all about, absolute mugs

I did. I also have a decade's worth of watching JD play. Fuck me, just about the only striker a select band of people didn't want dropped for JD was Berbs, and only after he started really clicking, despite his obvious class.

He went to Pompey people. Pompey.

I guess the embarrassment of JD's last league performance after the weeks of wailing and gnashing has worn off and they're coming out of the shadows again.

He didnt have a great game against West Ham but then neither did the whole of the team

This notion that because we picked him instead of Soldado is the reason we lost and also proves that Soldado should have started is the biggest pile of shit ive ever heard

Soldado has had more than enough chances and has done absolutely fuck all, the sooner he is out of the team the better

Stop wondering, it wouldn't. Playing Defoe helps nobody.

Or.....playing Soldado means you might as well start the match with 10 men or just place a statue in the oppositions D on the edge of their box at the start of each half

Soldado is one of the best strikers in the world but you have to give him chances to score. It wouldn't make a great deal of difference who we have up front if we create the same chances we do at the moment.

One of the best strikers in the world......oh...my...god

Did you really say that??????????

So adding a player who is worse in terms of contributing to team play, at the cost of one who does if we're looking to play with 2 strikers, is the answer? No, no it isn't.

Soldado contributes absolutely nothing to the team through both his lack of movement, his lack of physical strength and his inability to run quicker than a street sweeper

Defoe is better in all 3 aspects of this part of the game so yes, yes it is.

we lack the creativity - just don't have it - I just wish we had a decent striker .. because soldado just does not do it for me - as much as he peeved me with his behavior - like to see Berbatoss back

I just saw that someone called Soldado world class....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Berbatov or Soldado....hmmmmm, let me think :p

The only thing that Defoe does better out of those is run faster, and even that isn't as wide a gap as it would have been in the past. On top of that Defoe is 5'6", can't pass for toffee and so selfish that it is damaging to any attacking unit he is involved in. Having him on the pitch WITH Soldado would be more detrimental to our attacking play than fielding another CB.

That's because we don't make any chances. Soldado usually scores clear chances. How often do we put him through one on one against the keeper?

You need to make the runs and show yourself, play off of people in order to do that, Soldado does neither

If you really believe that Soldado is more of a threat than Defoe then I cant see the point in trying to liaise with you on this subject

Soldado made some excellent runs in the first half, our midfield decided to pass sideways rather than take the risk, Soldado's movement this season has been way above what Defoe has ever offered, Defoe is not a clever player, never has been and never will be.
Soldado's game yesterday was born out of pure frustration at the lack service, we need to take more risks from deep to find him or build the play up.
Your a decent poster but this Soldado hate so early on in his time with us when he has yet to settle is ridiculous.

Thats what I mean, is that guy actually being serious or does he watch football or know anything about it?????????!?!?!

Your implication that Defoe is better than Soldado (from your other posts) leads me to ask if you are being serious or not.
