All the reports said it was 35 yards from goal? Was that not the case? Just sounds like one of those freak, lucky deliveries that fool everyone.
I agree. No way did he mean it. There wasn't a great deal of pace on it. He was just looking to float it in. Flukey.

People need to get over the fact Eriksen has a casual strolling style. He does it when he's playing well, and today when not so well. It's no biggie.
It is a biggie. If he is going to stroll then put on someone who is going to run. Worse Spurs player on the pitch today in my opinion

Alli was the worst Spurs player on the field.

Personally Alli and Kane had very little impact on the game. But Eriksen was by far the worst player for us today, i think he passed the ball to Everton 80% of the time, didn't make any tackles and was lightweight, he was truly awful today and i know it's the first game of the season and im happy with a point at Everton. But for Eriksen to push on and show he is this player we hope he can be, these are the games he needs to show that extra quality, unforuntately since his FK's have dried up he has a knack of doing the opposite when it really matters.

All in all, a point away to Everton is a decent result, especially as many of their players are trying to impress a new manager.

Its like owning 11 puppets. You get them out of the case after their holidays, Put your hand up their arses, screw their heads on and tell them to get going.

In his first game for us Wanyama needs to be cut some slack....

Fucks sake.
The anger at Wanyama is perhaps more annoyance at the CM partnership, We have known for a while that Dembele was going to be out and that we needed a better start to the season. For some reason we seem to have gone with Wanyama and Dier and not promoted or bought anybody - so we probably deserve today's result when the opportunity was there to beat Everton and send out a message to the other top teams.

We lack creativity in the first half with 2 CMs. The front 4 except Lamela were disappointing.

Alli and Eriksson in particular need vast improvement. If not Poch would need to convert Dier into an attacking midfielder this season

Walker, Lamela and Janssen performed today. It's actually nice to have the option of Janssen. Real handful for defenders and wants to get on the score sheet, shows a desire to score. First couple of games of the season are about getting that match fitness up, touch etc. A point away to them is a good result in this league. Unlucky not to get the win after two good saves forthem, considering how we performed in the first half and could have been 2 down, i'll happily take this.

Look forward to Dembele being back soon, he is so important to us.

It was definitely not 35 yards from goal, it was more like 25 to 30, it wasn't in a very central location, but if Barkley didn't over hit it, it still would of been a free Jagielka header, who made a clever run behind Wanyama, who ended up marking no one, and got himself ahead of Dier.

The point is though those kind of chances are very dangerous, mainly because a good cross from that position requires the tiniest of touches to be deadly. But more importantly the free kick was totally unnecessary and reckless.

Wanyama seems one of those players who just loves winning the ball, this is generally positive, but it does mean he can be over eager. There is a reason he got three red cards last season. Still think he is an important signing. Just has weakness, and both his weaknesses and strengths were displayed today.

I can live with a point at Goodison for the first game of the season. Some positives there for sure. Lamela and Janssen in particular.
Also had the new manager factor and new owner and fresh hope etc.

Decent result considering we were nowhere near being in it in the first half.

Need other top teams to drop points now this weekend.

Our players need to also be fully aware that every game is all out war this season.

If we want to do anything significant we must have that mindset.

We looked very much like we did for most of last season, particularly the end of the season where most teams had worked out a way of playing against us.

When we have the ball, we get far too many of our players in front of it, with their backs to the opposition's goal, as though waiting for a set peice. That would be OK if we had any kind of plan or cohesive set of tactics for that situation, but we don't. We look our best when the opposition try to mix it with us in the last third - we've got great players for taking advantage in that kind of broken play. Trouble is, they all know that now, so just sit there waiting for us to lose patience and play a sloppy ball.

Demebele helps us in that situation, by taking the ball into contact. Without him, we don't have a plan. That's Poch's fault, and he can't rely on buying a Ronaldo or Bale to fix it, he needs to start coaching. Last year was fine - concentrate on Plan A, get the right players for that game, and set out a basic style. Now we need more. And not just more running around and pressing - more tactics, more nous.

Plenty of time, but I'd like to see signs sooner rather than later.

Same as last season. Where all over them but just could not get that illusive result at the end. That is where leagues are won and lost.

Poch needs to start coaching? AHAHAHAHAHA! That has to be the most deluded comment yet.

Stats aren't everything but Eriksen got 86% of his passes on target (just for reference Wanyama got 82% on target) and made more successful passes than any other midfielder (in fact almost as many passes as Wanyama and Dier combined).

On tackles Eriksen (shared with Walker) had more successful tackles than any other player on our team, with 3, in comparison Wanyama had 1, Dier had 2.

So erm....
