This is exactly what they are though, in the eyes of an accountant!!

Geting players like Bisouma on that fee is a lot of luck as well and what other teams need at that moment.

We can not do like Barca and have players wait until they are free transfers, because players are not lining up for Spurs, but if you see a player you know will strenghten us, then why not for ones actually pay the 10-15 extra asking price to get your first coice, instead of 49 out of 50 times take option 2 or 3.

Sorry, derailing the thread, on a personal note on Chiesa, i would stay clear not consistent enough for my liking.

We have to remember the players have to want to come here also. I think I would rather we save some of the money now because I believe a) we will have a better idea in 6 months or a year as to what types of players we really need after playing Ange's style for that period and b) I believe the pool of players that will want to play for us will increase after watching how we play during that period.

I think we should be looking at this as more of a 2 to 3 year build showing improvement this year, competing for top 4 and maybe a cup year 2 and competing for cups on multiple fronts year 3. It does not all need to be done this window and IMO it is smarter if we do not try it that way.

The only person who said we were slightly interested is WLB but both him and Trix said it’s unlikely and if we get anyone it would be Dusan. Big fan of his and id actually prefer him to Dusan but i don’t think it’s remotely worth spending time thinking it’s even a remote possibility.

I think there’s no way we don’t get a CD also but beyond that I expect standard last minute levy brinkmanship/deal hunting. I hope we don’t and we have clear defined targets that we are moving on now but it’s the same every window and I’m not convinced it will change. The fact that beyond Orban, and maybe even including Orban, everything is on hold until we sell sort of means everything will happen last minute anyway.

Last minute only players that clubs want to shift will be available. We want to get Fati, Kudu or Felix say then great but anyone rated by their club will not be getting sold near the end of a window because the selling club will struggle to find a replacement. Chiesa say will not be leaving on the last day of the window.

We need to see a lot of movement out soon otherwise it'll likely be final day 'we tried' as usual which will not be acceptable.

That being said this summer has felt a bit different, Ange has seemed to hint that our business is by no means done and he's also said he is very very clear on the profile of player he wants in different positions etc so unlike with some of our other recent managers if we did get a last minute 'bargain' in an are Ange needs you'd like to think Ange could actually get something out of the player whereas Conte and Jose wanted expensive experienced finished articles otherwise they threw their toys out of the pram.

We 100% need a CB, RW and ST and possibly another CM if PEH goes but absolutely need those other 3 positions if we want a chance of finishing even just 4th-6th. Otherwise we could be looking at another 7th-8th type of finish.
